R/C Tech Forums - SC10 4x4 Thread

well my boat leaves in about 4 months ( start of next season )
I hope AE will get this sorted out by then.
when it is March 2012 EA have had over 8 months time to develop a good working slipper for this truck,

But like I said, it would be nice if AE make an official statement on this.

last season I drove with stock slipper and got a 5th place overall in the most competitive 4wd SC championship op Holland, 2012 I would like to get a place in the top three.

It would be nice if AE came addressed these issues but the factory drivers are even looking "aftermarket" if you will. I run at West Coast R/C Raceway which also happens for Ryan Cav's local track too. And others there have said he runs option parts like chassis braces and clutch baskets (not Mac the knife's thou...boo:() and has pin mods. AE is on that slow boat as all these mods have been talked about and done here on rctech for awhile now. Heck Mac has had the basket out since June i think. Don't miss out on these 3rd party options as I'm sure you'll podium place on your next race.

You can have that right now - run a 540 motor and a Yeah Racing ya-0180 fan.

T-Bone Racing that makes a rear bumper/skid plate kit for the the SC10 4x4. I don't know what the durability or performance is on it as I haven;t tried it but it looks pretty good.

edit: infact as I think of it, why is there so little response of AE in this tread ? other manufacturers are giving a little more tread support.

I still wanna know If I can expect a new slipper design of AE ( one that can handle the 550's or 4-pole torque )

why do the AE drivers prefer the fast lap products?

Losi driver cutting the track because he missed using me for brakes in a tight corner and getting infringement of me is a normal occurance it my local track. I think nmdesertracer can attest to this, only 1 losi guy there runs a race the right way.

Functionally? Nothing. The MTK basket is the orginal, Billy at Fastlap is the knockoff.

I see that fast Lap products also has a High Bite Inner Front Slipper Hub. does that have to go with their High Torque Clutch Basket ?

You might be better served sending Billy at Fastlaps an email as you probably won't get too many replies helping you out with Fastlaps questions.
All I know is my Mac the Knife clutch basket I bought in June is still rocking, I made 4 chassis braces for under $15 and I pinned my own top shaft for free. All with the help from the guys here on rctech.:D

I do wanna go for Mac the Knife, as I understand he invented it. I just wanna know if the fast lap products have to go together

My thoughts are: when I ask this at fast laps, they will say yes, just to sell more products

Ryan was running the setup posted on AE's web page. Kody was running Ryan's setup with three changes:

Rear shocks all the way in at the top
2.0 swaybar rear/1.5 front
20T front gear.

Tires for Trackside were JConcepts barcodes in green.

Basket clutches were using Std. inner pad with HD pads in basket and outer with vented slipper plate.

Jason had Ryans setup with 20t and the aluminum chassis with no brace. With AKA ReBars it worked pretty good. I tried switching to the Barcodes and when pushed hard it did not work well. I think Ryans setup works with some torsional flex best.

For most drivers I think you will find the way Kody had his truck setup more forgiving and still super fast. It is what Jason will be switching to.
