Easy fix on the track is to hold a little throttle though take off, but may want to try stiffing the front or softening the back springs. I'm running yellow front /blue rear and it does drop the nose when coasting but it's just the right amount for me.

I ran a 6.5 with the tuning rotor on a medium size blown out track. I liked it better than my 4.5 550. It was easier to drive/control. It was just a little slower down the long stretch. Temps werent that bad about 140 after 5 min.

I have been running standard 540 motors in my truck from the start. I have a fan mounted in the chassis to help control temps and I am plenty fast to run out front in the northwest. Currently I have been running a Murfdogg 6.5 on the local indoor track and don't have any issue with temps. I can run a complete pack and come off at 125.

8.5's with boost are getting it done at our indoor track.

for those with the 4.5's cant you just limit the throttle on the radio instead of buying a new motor?

i run 80-90% with a 4.5. down 2 teeth on the pinion, with a timing advance for an expo like acceleration feel about a 3rd of the way into the throttle. much better control of the truck, and entirely logical.

wouldn't work on an open high speed track, but i'm high traction indoors. works great.

yeah I was running on a 1/8 outdoor track. Now Im going to a small indoor clay track. Was hoping the 4.5 wouldnt be to much for it

I've got a set of Protek 5x11.5x0.2mm on order, as well as some Xray 5x15x0.3mm. I really hope the Xray ones do the trick....0.3-0.4 seems to be the ticket, depending on whether you still shim the outdrive on the outside, and a single shim rather than 2-3 shims should be more solid. I'm hoping the slightly larger than stock shim will also help minimize the wobble and oil leakage....

Will update once they arrive on fit, but I don't think I'm going to get a chance to run for a little while....the evil snow came today....

KC, For Awesome and Roger's track, a 4.5 would be perfect as long as you have the traction. But indoors with higher traction clay, or even @ winchester on carpet, I would drop a tooth or 2 on the pinion. If its still too much maybe even back the timing off a little. Are you running the Tekin Setup?

Racing was no bueno for Jeff today. I was tail happy big time. I had to drop the rear almost 3 mm to get it right. Then My front shock came apart and my screw that goes into the front bulkhead for the camber link got pulled out. Still having belt issues. Arghhh

Drove another racers ae that was dialed. This thing was so nice to drive, it was night n day difference to mine.
