Hey BL why don't you post up a setup sheet? i'm curious how others are setting them up besides the pros.

Hey, thanks for asking! I started with Cav's set up and then after practicing I ended up with these changes:

Front shocks leaned in to the inner most hole, yellow springs same oil.
Rear shocks leaned out to the outer hole, blue springs, same oil but I wanted to go to 27.5 or 30.
I had a 2mm shim under the ball stud...I went back to stock 0mm.
AKA Rebars in super soft front and rear.
12/60 with a 4.5 550.

My first breakage

During practice at my track on Friday I went off the straight section and hit a dead lying branch straigh on. Oups... my fault... not the trucks.

Broke a Turnbuckel and Shock Shaft. :(

Now waiting for the FT upgrade parts! :sneaky:

well after heat issues with a thunderpower 7.5 and a lrp octawind 6.5 my friend let me use a hacker 6.5 just to see, well the results speek for themselves it still had the same speed with a smoother powerband and after 10 min it came off the track at 135 and that is with setting record lap times at my track so I was pushing it hard. Cant explain it but it worked lol.

That did it! LOL a $5.00 dongle actually did the job...wish Specktrum would've just included it.

I spoke too soon. After about 3 packs at wcrc it started to happen again (only it got worse as it'll glitch even when truning the wheels). Josh, guy who works there actually let me borrowed his $400 controller and receiver combo to isolate the problem. Bingo! Its the Spektrum receiver/controller/Servo that's causing the issue.

So to be 100% certain, I'm going to go with Airtronics MT4 and a Savox servo. Any well known issue with running that combo with RX8/SC4X?

FRONTI3R 08-08-2011 08:59 AM

You sure it's not just the Savox servo the issue since it wants so much power?

Around here people have had your same issue and they just run the servo off a BEC and all issues go away. (BEC stands for battery ellimination circuit. This circuit powers the servos and Rx.)

Actually, I''ve got the Spektrum S6040 servor.

How do I run the servo off the BEC? could you provide instruction? I'd really love to save a few bucks at this point; but so frustrated now would pay anything to have a working car...

Take a look at this post... they were having issues too. Might be a spectrum thing:

Yep, that's the voltage capacitor I was running...still the same problems.

At this point I'm pretty sure its a Spektrum thing, so going with airtronics mt4...thanx!

3s sc10 4x4

i was wondering if anyone is running 3s in there trucks and how is everything holding up? i ran this past weekend and just dont seem to have the power i need when running on large outdoor tracks. everyone was having no problems clearing some of the jumps i had to roll i could clear them but it would take a lot more run up. im running the rx8 tekin 4.5 with reedy 2s 40c packs. tried a couple different tire combos and still seemed to need more power. i picked up a couple 3s packs and i have been waiting for my lrp 4.5 to be repaired by ae i called today they have had it for two months now i asked them to swap it for the 5.5 version im gonna try it out this weekend if i get it by friday.
