Has anyone installed the castle 2400kv 4pole motor in theirs yet? If so how did you get that sucker to fit....

I would re-ask your question for real world feedback after the weekend. Most of us may be building and bumming around with them around home, but very few are able to drop everything and go hit up a track.

Maybe the fact that no one is responding is because they are all having such an awesome time running their cars they have yet to get back on the computer and post here. :D

Give the truck a few weeks for people across the nation to tune and race with it.....It's only been out a few days.

Patience is a virtue.

The 4 pole motor that comes with the Sidewinder SC combo will just fine, it is the motor that comes with the MMP combo that is a tight fit

I know 4 guys who have raced this truck a few times in the last week &
none of them have anything good to say about it. The biggest commin
complaint is this thing drives like crap without sway bars,it needs sway
bars badly. All 4 guys say this.... They have many complaints but this
is enough, you seem to have got the picture already... ;)

I'm looking forward to driving my SC10 4x4 because I liked the original
4x4 25 years ago that had the same design (MIP RC10 4x4 conversion)

You can see the original 25 year old RC10 4x4 by MIP here.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...-4wd-rc10.html

it was twitchy and hard to drive also, which seems to be the main
complaint with the new one from those who have drove them. I liked
the old one alot but I had to do alot of mod's to calm it down and
smooth it out. Won't surprise me if the same mods work on the new
one...

I wasn't able to get it to fit. Its even longer than my Tekin SC4X 5.5.

I did install the 1410 and it fit just fine.

Am I missing something or has AE removed all the FT parts from the sc10 4X4 parts & accessories section?!?:weird:

Thanks bro, I have a 3800kv coming in so I'll throw it in there once I get it and use the 2400kv as a backup (will prob have to mod the chassis to fit it)....... And why you selling yours?

Couple of thoughts

I just started mine last night. I don't have a ton of experience but this is my third kit build (SC10FT & T4.1FT). Being a 4x4, this is a more complex truck than a 2wd but the intructions are not as clear as the other two trucks (at least to me.)

I am impressed with how very solid this truck feels as it is going together.

I am using a Savox servo. Not at home & don't remember the model but it is a high torque/fairly high speed version. Needed to do some dremeling to get it to fit.

My biggest problem is that there is a TLR 22 sitting on my front porch right now which needs assembly as well. Think I'm gonna end up feeling like that one legged guy in the ***kicking contest.

Are the stock turnbuckles 3.5mm? I have my kit, but I'm at work trying to place a order :D

I don't see the point of those huge rx boxes when you've got a non-waterproof esc and servo and transponder that all cost more than the rx.

I think it's more for keeping the dirt out, rather than waterproofing it. The ESC/Servo/Transponder are all more-or-less sealed units. Your RX has great big gaping holes that let all the little crud get inside...I've been told that depending on what the crud is made out of, it can lead to radio glitching... not sure how much that still applies with 2.4GHz....

And FASST RXs are the same price as transponders...

If you remove the 18mm screw and nut that holds the back to the middle body component and bend them apart, you can slide the motor in (with a little work).

UPDATE: (May 11, 2011 - 10 hrs later...): I have decided to abandon the 2400. While I can get the motor into and out of the truck with the method above. As I finished the build and tried to seat the motor tonight, I couldn't get it flush with the motor plate to install the bottom bolt on the motor. I would have had to dremel the body near the body edge (see pic above) to make it fit, and I didn't want to do that. I am going to install a 3800 (when it gets here). SORRY!

Hey guys I hope the building is going better for you than me. I built mine in about 6.5 hours. I am using a tekin 5.5 sc4x. I matched it with a 14t instead of a 13t pinion that the manual called for. my motor is getting a little hot and that is after 4 minutes running. What bother me most it that when i flat out accelerate the motor acts like it has a rev limiter on it and it wont go fast at all. When i accelerate smoothly it will hit a normal top speed. Iam using the VXL ESC out of a slash 4x4. If any one can give me some insight I would appreciate it.

I wouldn't run that esc, you'll probably see smoke next.

Steering is unique in design for sure, went together well, but i did hit a speed bump with my kit., three of the four diff screws that hold the two halves together were missing, bummer. gonna look around local hardware to fund some that will work. I myself like a twitchy vehicle so I am even more excited from the post back a few saying it is twitchy!!
