SC10 4x4 Thread

Also, be careful when installing the sliding servo mounts. On mine, they pinch the servo wire just a bitdue to the rubber cap that is supposed to protect the wires.

Could some of the guys who have ran the truck please give your opinion of the truck. I want to race the 4x4 class this summer but still cant make up my mind. The losi seems to be heavy but yet the results are it is a winner. I like associated products but I am wondering if this truck is going to be to hard for me to get it dialed in. I know there others who would like to hear about performance of the truck and not so much of "mine will be here Monday" thanks, this website is a goldmine for info.

(quote ) Heres a news flash for you guys on the idler
gear"
I called AE this morning and asked if the idler gear was suppose to be
installed the way the insturctions say or the way Richard Saxton shows
in his video?
The answer is follow the instructions or the idler will burn up from binding.
Don't shoot the guy delivering this message, this is what AE themselves
says. (Richard Saxtons video is wrong)
I hope this saves someone from having trouble with their new truck" That's good info but wait ,we are supposed to use the instructions? Dang it!

I found that when leaving the belt tensioners on the uppermost setting (shown on some AE setup sheets), the belt is a little too close for comfort to the sides of the belt cover and could rub.
I don't understand why belt tension is considered a "setup" Seems like there should only be one correct tension and should not have much effect on car otherwise except a bit more friction to the front end.
Can someone elaborate on why there are different belt tension settings shown on the setup sheets?

I still haven't quite grasped this concept of going up in teeth cools the engine. Essentially what you are doing when you go up in teeth is putting more load on the motor because you are trying to spin the wheels faster. More load means more current which means more heat. If someone says youa re running to many RPM's and that is causing you to overheat, that is not right. If you have heat issues you should lower the pinion size not increase it.

[QUOTE=Wild Cherry;9095791]Same body as the 2W Sc-10, not sure how thick , but its a durable shell ...[.quote]
These shells are durable, but the lower edges are always too thin, these areas aren't critical but they crack and tear easily. I'll add some shoe-goo and maybe fiberglass on the weak spots BEFORE cracking this one.
Kit tires have exact same p/n as 2wd sc10.
My half worn ones sucked in parking lots but did well at WCRC in my 2wd... Anything with higher traction was causing traction rolls. Maybe a little 4wheel drifting isn't such a bad idea especially with a light truck..... Can't be half as hard as 2wd drifting I've been doing.

Kits tires look good for bashing on asphalt & base ball diamonds ...

You want the belts to be tight enough so they don't skip. You can play with additional tension as a tuning option although it is a very subtle change. i tighter belt can accelerate faster and add drag brake although it can cause the motor and ESC to run hotter.
Correct.

I'm using a Savox and didn't need an extension. I have a 1258TG and a 1256TG and both servo wires are 11.5 inches long.

I will check for that when I get home thanks.

Dremelling! Those motors are slightly longer and more squared than most/all 550s.

The wire on my $15 hobbyking servo is long enough... although I think I'll mount my rx on the removeable tray and even cut the tray narrower and put screw holes in my 2wd so I can just swap the tray between cars.

I don't see the point of those huge rx boxes when you've got a non-waterproof esc and servo and transponder that all cost more than the rx.

If you don't believe it, give it a try. Go with 3 teeth smaller than what you find works on your track, make sure its something where you notice you are on the high end of your throttle pull and watch the temps. They will go up.

Yes, and I very well could have messed the teeth myself when I was pulling the diff apart. It was only 3 teeth right by the screw of the diff, when it got to that point on the idler gear it would catch on the skirt.

got mine together this morning. The castle 3800kv with a 13t pinion and 62t spur rips! 4 wheel burnouts on asphalt with super soft jconcepts subcultures. After about 10 mins of messing around the motor was at a scorching 105. This was with the body off, about 85 degrees outside, and long distance attempts off the speed bumps lol. Track testing tomorrow! Oh and the top speed is probably right around 30 id say.
