Yeah - just my luck. I have spares from my other SC10 though.. so no huge deal, was just sort of shocked that would make it thorugh quality control :D

+1 . Should be really kickass.

Curious though, if you are damaging 32p stuff, you may want to see if you have something funky happening in the mesh.

Hey Marcus, odd question here, liking what Shark is doing with a 2wd version of the sc10 4x4, with your new mod 1 gear can you use it with the garodiscs to turn the 4x4 into a 2wd monster?

No, it will not work . The spur gears will not have pockets to fit the disc, dif setup only.

darn :)

Why is there all the hate on this SC??

Cain 03-01-2014 05:45 PM

A lot of it comes down to issues with quirks of the design versus handling issues reported with the vehicle in comparison to other vehicles out there.

Personally, I feel when AE designed the vehicle, the class was at the time different, or at least the understanding of what it is was different than what it morphed into right now.

But, personally I feel it has lots of potential. Just needs to have the right push from AE in my opinion. There are some things that if they can make in a revision would be great.

What kind of issues?

Few things off the top of my head:

- Disassembly is very involved. Getting to the servo for example involves taking apart a significant portion of the vehicle. Same with getting to the diffs.

- diffs not as sealed as they should be

- Vehicle is very rear biased. this can cause odd handling oddities

- Very little airflow to motor based on layout, so temps are more

- Rotation of motor relative to drivetrain causes issues with having proper in-air pitch control. So in comparison to other vehicles, you can't easily drop the nose or bring it up like a traditional 3 diff design vehicle

- Out of the box has no center diff option from AE, just a slipper pad setup

- No rear toe block options for more or less toe like other AE vehicles. This can make a world of difference in traction seen on low traction surfaces

- Doesn't appear to have the attention of AE like other vehicles, and has a lack of setups relative to loose traction conditions where the vehicle has come across as lacking.

The aftermarket has provided very nice solutions to a lot of the issues, with big benefits seen from M2C, RC Shox, and Exotek to name a few. Probably the last one to be worked would be in air attitude control. A counter gear setup like what RC Shox tried and what Shark413 has made seems to be very promising.
