Well had a race day today and it's time to eat some humble pie, I took wins with all my cars, including the SC104X4. Been bagging this car a bit, not today.
With the front slipper locked, VTS type slipper (home made) set very tight, 8mm mod, added weight, saddles etc etc etc, the truck would spin ALL four wheels and stay locked dead straight, "bingo". The track went from good grip to low grip and the SC10 was very good, driver took some time to adjust to all the power working on the truck, but first time in a long time I'm happy with it and not changing it to another make. It does need some more weight down low, and still needs less steering, may go from 7000 in the front to 10.000. After the race day I ran a heaver saddle pack in it and it was even better, should have raced with that one. Old pic now has 550 tekin 4.5 in it and 8mm mod. Standard (medium) tire glue is easier to glue with to start out, takes longer to set, gives you more time. Tire glue only like wc said. Rims & tires are too expensive to not use the correct glue on.
Scuff up the channels on the rim that the tire sits into, scotch brite or other. |
Also scuff the tire itself along the glue edges.. most tires are still covered in the remains of the stuff they use in the molds to prevent the rubber from sticking to the mold. If you don't take that off, it also keeps the glue from sticking to the rubber. I use a dremel with a sanding drum to lightly roughen up the areas to be glued, works great and I have never had one come off when doing that.

Use rubbing alcohol on a qtip and wipe down the tire and wheel where the 2 surfaces are to meet. Let air dry then glue. Lots of residue on stuff from factories. You can scuff the wheels with sandpaper if you want. Not the rubber tho

I use the blue stuff. Reallt thin. Fine tip thought
