Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a huge disadvantage to run stick instead of saddle?

Are you talking about the rcshox ackbar? If so did you follow his instructions on the installation? If you didn't its because you didn't shave down the steering bellcranks as instructed.

Kinda. The saddle pack moves more weight forward which can help the handling. If all you have are stick packs you can add some lead to the front to mimic the effect and the performance on the track is close enough for general racing. If you were going to the ROAR nats it would be a good idea to have both. :p

Not a deal breaker , enjoy running the truck with sticks until you can get some saddles...:)

Track Report from Trcr

For last few days been testing more weight & stiffer rear springs ...

ballast total = 6 1/2 oz

springs

*stiffer rear spring performed good , has a little extra stability on sweeper.
* did experience a lost of infield steering on sharper corner's ( 180)
*less traction, frees the truck up quite bit , can step out unexpected on sharp corner.

extra weight

no doubt

*more traction , easier to drive

*not faster though

Testing failed to discover a improvement with the lap times....
Still feel the extra weight can prove to be big improvement on outdoor ...

Going back to 2 1/2 oz extra ballast & rear yellow tonight...
Doing this to bring extra confirmation to my results.

Found some of the same results as you did WC. Although the stiffer rear springs suited my driving style more I found the extra weight on the indoor tracks to slow my lap times down. My lite weight set-up seems more to my liking but put me at a disadvantage on a really big track.

Are you still running 10k in the front with the VST?

20k ft & 7k rear diff oil
VTS & heavy duty pad for ft drive

my truck uses no gear & belt covers, amounts to 2oz ....

so I'm just above the legal weight...

i am building my differentials on my new sc10 4x4 factory team truck right now. what would be the best differential fluid to put in them? i have 3000, 5000, 7000 at home. the truck came with 5000 and 30000.

JEFFs SC10 06-15-2012 11:23 AM

depends on what kinda track you run on. a safe bet is 5/5

put the v2 Center Diff in as well. (thank me later)

Are you sticking with the stock vts slipper or going aftermarket?

darryl80 06-15-2012 11:28 AM

i am sticking with the stock vts slipper for the time being.

Arakon 06-15-2012 11:30 AM

Someone had asked if the A/B B44 hubs will work instead of the more expensive carbon C hubs, for the 8mm mod.. they do not. They're far too thick and even after cutting down as much as possible, will rub on the rims.

In that case the oil in the kit will serve you best.

darryl80 06-15-2012 11:35 AM

back to what JEFFs SC10 posted that i should put 5000 in the front and 5000 in the rear is that the best bet for the time being?

If using the stock VTS pads, definatley use HD pad as WC suggested although I like 20/5 for fluids but I like a lot of steering. Changed my FT VTS pads out with Garodiscs and had to go down to 10/5 because I was experiencing a push with the 20 in the front after the Garo install. Truck is very suited to me now though and I am loving these Garos. Whole lot more consistent and no fade from front drive like I was experiencing with FT slipper pads. All I have experience with is outdoor loose tracks so far with this chassis though.
