We are getting ahead of ourselves with these poo-fights. I am in no way innocent, As Lodhammer loves to point out as a White Knight, as much of a Joke as he is... We need to start being constructive again. We sound like people talking about AE in a Losi thread. We don't sound like AE boys anymore. (WC, you're just crazy) Constructive input, and frustration is fine, but we and myself are going past it into a mass that is sitting over here laughing at the product as it drives around the track. We should be talking about losi's like this, not our own trucks. (No, I'm not saying to do that! ) We have a winning Truck. Is the FT what we had hoped for? The Dream of grandeur? No. it's really not. But: It is a hell of alot better than the RTR or the old Kit. Now that I've had 24 hours to think about it and a certain phone call for me by someone, I honestly see this as a good step. They listened to us guys. We R&D'd to a massive scale for this truck. ~1% of that chassis brace is mine! I helped make that happen on an FT by 1%. ~ MTK, they did exactly what you designed yourself to a little variation. On a National Title Truck. That's all you buddy. ~ Marcus carries some of the best hopups seen on this truck and alot of others. Which wouldn't have come on the truck anyway. My A-arms warp. My chassis Flexes. Mention: how rigid they made the Sc10 chassis and how it broke before they redid it... Who knows what'll happen to the durability of this truck with such static parts... Maybe Awesome! Maybe bad. Who knows. The A-arms are a hit or miss. I don't understand how someone has used 1 set their whole time, and I've gone through two as taken care of as possible. (don't even start with me. I know how to take care of my truck :p) Comments like the "AE's Strike", and whatnot are hilariously false. No one could bolt anything on to that piece of shit and get around anywhere. The FT truck will win Club level. Look at it. Actually come to think of it... I think I was more mad originally with it not being flat-fixed because I couldn't buy 'new stuff' for that "wow" change. Kinda silly on my part, I thinks. Chris: I super appreciate you being here and checking up the forums every day. I hope you will continue to do so, and I respect you highly. I hope we can get away from the poo flinging and go back to guides, and build comments, tuning, and the good fun this thread has. I'm getting to work on those Diff fixes until AE releases theirs.(They are absolutely in the works as we read.) That's my contribution to this thread. I will also be selling them at my cost+shipping for everyone. That's my word, and continuing contribution to you guys since the Chassis Brace deal is over with in a month. If you want to call me a hypocrite and a tail turner, that's fine. But I didn't toss out the truck to bash it to high heaven. I've been with it since day 1 like alot of you, and I've fought, and tried, and made whatever needed to make this succeed, including trying to get people to stick with the truck. My frustrations are not seen as the 50% sarcasm they are because this is a forum and it cannot be convey'd. That's my problem for typing how I talk, and I oughta work on that. ----------- FT backordered and now I play the waiting game. On subject, got my new TiN hinge pins, TiN ball studs, and hard anodized bushing today. Replaced front arms as well as caster and steering blocks and rear arms and hub carriers. Old arms showed no warping and ar the same arms from the original kit. |

look at this way
Only been 8 months ! The other way to look at it is the truck was so flawed that it Only took eight months for AE to realize and then put together a full option truck kit at $60 above what the original purchase price was for the original kit, which is now $30 cheaper than it was. Not that the original kit being cheaper when the FT is released is any shocker, but realistically, if the truck had been the way it should have been (materials-wise) they would've done what they did with the original SC10: Fix the minor issues with parts revisions and then blast off with the FT full option version. This is not the last rehash we've seen of the SC10 4x4 for the next..oooh...twelve months. The expected date is very rapid, too, which tells ThunderbirdJunkie that this has been in the works since the truck was only a few months old, considering how long it normally takes AE to release something (a year ago now the SC10 4x4 was announced...it didn't come to us until May...unless AE is being uncharacteristically quick with things on purpose unlike the MGT, they had to do something to placate us, really) vs when we see it. ThunderbirdJunkie got his SC10 2wd kit late in the game (after the RTR came out), and it was still over eight months before the FT version was released. Perhaps ThunderbirdJunkie is simply a conspiracy theorist. That's always very plausible.

My frustrations are not seen as the 50% sarcasm they are because this is a forum and it cannot be convey'd. That's my problem for typing how I talk, and I oughta work on that. Were it not for the materials, the truck would have been dialed. It was a fantastic truck when it wasn't bent like a swaybacked, rusted out 30 year old GM pickup that'd spent its life overloaded. He spent a buttload of money on it, and even more time tuning it. Any time a toy car becomes a point of frustration, that's when you unload it. Always at a loss, too. Realistically, this is what ThunderbirdJunkie wanted in the FT truck: Improved plastics Improved slipper/center diff (ball center diff is the first thing ThunderbirdJunkie thought when he saw the decoupled slipper) Swaybars and FT shocks Everything else is just bling and not necessary. Thankfully, the slipper was updated, it's got the swaybars and FT shocks (ThunderbirdJunkie still has a plano box full of SC10 4x4 parts if you guys want to see it for proof he hadn't completely given up on the platform), it's got the hexes (always nice) and it comes in at a great price point. Chris, ThunderbirdJunkie understands how things work, and that it may not be financially feasible to completely retool molds for a different formulation of plastic to account for shrinkage rates, but AE saved tons of money on the +8 B4 chassis by cutting the old mold and adding length (very visibly; Losi XXX-T style) and doing nothing else but charging 50 bones to the end user for the kit with a snazzy $3 piece of waterjetted carbon fiber, a sticker, and some foam. The bottom line is, AE seems to be getting lazy, be it for the sake of being lazy or to save a dollar or two, even when they completely retool something brand effing new, and that's driving tons of loyalists away. The only two AE cars in this stable now are the B4.1FT (with all the snazzy current FT goodies on it) and the old B2 warhorse. That being said...ThunderbirdJunkie feels "AE's Strike" is completely appropriate. Let's say Thunder Tiger sold it as their Sparrowhawk SCT 4wd or whathaveyou. A lot of these shortcomings would have been far more forgivable were that the case, because less would have been expected from Thunder Tiger, even at the same price point (just like if the Strike were called what it was; the Sportwerks Raven SCT). |
steering mod
How hard is it to do the stock ackerman 180 flip mod?
details on how to. I typed in steering mod in the search no luck. I was at AE today and they said that the release date is just an estimate when its gonna hit the market! I want to do this mod since the new ackerman steering rack isn't gonna be here anytime soon! |

Perhaps this is ThunderbirdJunkie's conspiracy theorist mindset, but ThunderbirdJunkie feels the "dump to bash" comment was directed toward him.

That's my problem for typing how I talk, and I oughta work on that. ----------- FT backordered and now I play the waiting game. I am amazed at how many people speculate on how a vehicle will perform based on a small promo write up. I am even more amazed on how many people ask questions on specifics of a kit that hasn't even been released yet. Why can't all of you guys/gals that have been vocal about your disappointment in AE's FT release look at the bright side of all of this. AE has done their market research and found out what is wrong and how their customers are fixing these issues. Now they are releasing a Factory Team kit, which we all have been wanting, with all the hop ups and add ons that we, the consumers, have been doing and wanting. If they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the you all should be flattered that AE is willing to use your ideas to help fix (not necessarily cure) some of the issues with our beloved SC10 4x4. Remember people that this is an all new, radically designed short course truck. It took a lot of "BALLS" for AE to go against the grain and commit to an idea and make it work. You have to respect that, as they respect you and your loyalty and creativity. I just sold my SC10 4x4 so I can get the new FT kit. I know I could have just added the parts that are available to bring my upped kit to the ft level but I really enjoy building the kit, and I don't have the time, money or ability to shop on the internet for all of these amazing parts you guys have made. I hope to continue to read more in this thread about ideas for aftermarket parts, tips and tricks on how to set up this kit and tips on how to better drive this kit. This isn't a "balls to the wall Losi" kit we run. It is a kit that needs some skill and finesse to drive well and fast. Now AE, just a thought here. If you are considering having to create new moulds for the arms so a better, stiffer, more warp resistant plastic can be used, please consider adding droop screws to the design. Then all that would be needed to use the droop screws in the arms is what Durango did in the DEX408. A steel droop plate that can be bolted to the chassis and changed easily enough when worn out or damaged. Like I said, just a thought. |
One of the many things I hate is when people that think they are cool talk/type in the third person.
I'm sure all the hop ups as used have been in the pipeline for a while. Takes time from cad to mold to pre production samples to full production line. Cant wait to run the full AE FT version. Another thing that may be hurting some of the guys arms on here is running pinned top shaft or centrr diff. Which ways are the arms warping? From braking or accelerating? |
i need some help guys!
i purchased the rtr version of the truck so i'm not sure how this thing goes together. can someone please tell me how to remove the servo to put a new one in. i've started to take it apart and from what i can tell i've got to basically take the whole front end apart just to remove the servo. is this right or is there some type of short cut i'm missing? also is there a step by step pictoral perhaps? |
Diff Juice
Did anyone else notice that the FT manual has user building the diffs and recommending 30K in the front and 5k in the rear. They also added spacers under the front and rear ball studs, It looks like the shocks don't come pre built either, factory team tip for building the shocks only use the top X ring. Is there anything else that we came up with first?
