Anybody could post a link and help in pointing to the right pinion for my MMP (3mm shaft)?
It seems my LHS only has the ones that fit the MMM (5mm shaft).
Thx in advance.
Best,
V

If you search "ofna 3mm" on amain there will be a selection. Alternatively you could use a 5mm to 3mm pinion adapter.

Hey cavg,
Thx for the fast reply.
What do these adapters look like?
Something like this: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...nion-Adaptor-2
Never seen these before; is it ok to use these?
I saw the OFNA pinions but only up to 16T in mod 1 (3mm shaft).
Thx for the help,
V

Edit: out of the box with a MMPro /1415/2400Kv, what would be an ideal start pinion wise? 16T, 15T, 14T???
Driving on 1/8 rough track, 1 long straight, couple of U turns, doubles, tables etc...

Yes that's it. I have been using one for my 14t pinion with the 1410. Only issue I had was when I wanted to borrow a 15t, and I couldn't fit it properly. But I was on track and stressed so I didn't try too hard.

The 1415 needs to be geared pretty high from what I understand (because of the low Kv). Check the front page for tips!

Don't want to drop more coin on something that doesn't work well.

I found where someone said the JC Truth body fits. Anything else? Thanks in advance.
Currently I'm using the AE SC10 body and it fits like a glove! Perfect fit as if it was intended for this truck all along.

Hi again,
Here is my main concern at the moment:
I am awaiting on my MMP 1415/2400Kv combo. (Will probably go with a 1410/3800Kv later).
Should I go with mod 1 pinion 5mm plus adaptor or just go with 3mm pinions?
There seems to be no 3mm mod 1 pinions above 16T; and the 1415 requires more than that.
As stated on first page:
Castle 2400kv - 17-23T pinion (20 tooth and beyond you need the ERC motor mount)
Any advice on using the adaptor is more than welcome.
I am in the process of ordering as my LHS has none of these... :-(
Best,
V

I would go with the adapter and 5mm pinions. They go up to 22t I think.

Hi there,
So you think there is no pb using an adaptor regarding durability of motor shaft?
This adaptor: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...nion-Adaptor-2
And these 2 pinions 17T and 19T (for a start):
17T: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...inion-Gear-17T
19T: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...inion-Gear-19T
Thx for the help, much appreciated.
Best,
V

you just answered your own question.

if you want the truck to be quick and competitive you only have one option, run the adapter and buy 5mm pinions.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback and the advice.
So no compatibility pb having an OFNA adaptor with Robinson Racing pinions?
Sorry for all the questions, , I am coming from nitro and all this is a little new for me.
Best,
V

Nope, I use them no problem until I went with a 550 motor...

Now when I get an SCTE I am probably going with a Tekin pro 4 motor, does that have a 3mm shaft?

Don't forget the blue thread lock on the pinion set screw!
