Thanks Drift_Buggy,
I tried to post a link to those pix earlier but my limited posts on here mean that I've not yet reached the magic number
The thinking behind the first pic (with the ESC sited behind the battery) was to keep the motor wires short and utilise the fact that the chassis is a touch wider for the RC install at the rear and enable the Rx to be mounted flat on the chassis - whereas when the ESC was at the front, I had to install the Rx on its side because the space is narrower due to the servo mounts / front bulkhead.
I did think of mounting the Rx on the mid motor guard but the TC racer I work with nearly slapped me for that idea and came up with the idea of mounting the ESC behind the LiPo. I'm still resisting his urge to colour all my receiver wires black though.
Mounting it at the back also gave me more head-room for the Esc fan housing - it does fit at the front but it is tight.
Weight distribution wise, I was surprised to find that it didn't make a heap of difference when I swapped between the 2 installs. It is kinda strange to see the LiPo that far forward with the ESC and Rx behind it but even now, I'm still getting used to the motor being in front of the rear axles
The Castle MMP isn't the smallest ESC on the block but it does help demonstrate that the 22 isn't prohibitively tight for R/C space.
Hope this helps.
