I think that was addressed in a running change, as my latest didn't need clearancing of the bulkhead while my original one did.

Once pointed in the right direction by Frank, I have the Spektrum S6040 with 1mm shims in my truck, S6070 with 3mm shims in my buggy and short neck ball studs, fast enough, full lock and no mods required.

Frank/Casper and everyone else....

What's your opinion on the aluminium idler gear? Longer use? Worth it?

heavier(big deal in transmission), not much stronger(if any stronger), may shred (in a sealed place, you know), and more expensive.
personal opinion...

Personally never had an issue with tearing one up. We don't run mod though (17.5 only) and I am very picky about maintaining the tranny. Even after a couple months of use, I see minimal wear when I replace the idler gear.

I've run my 22 converted into a sprint car, with a 4.5 bolted in. Stock idlers, mid motor case. Zero issues with idlers blowing out. Had so much grip we were pulling wheelies with the 4.5 and full timing ramp on a Tekin RS Pro. Had wires unsoldering from the motor, and motor meltdown issues instead...lol

I run one, but only in my 22SCT, with black grease too.

Hey Frank, can you tell me the length of your front turn buckles and the rear if possible?

Thanks

Idler issues tend to only be with the 22SCT. The heavy car with large tires puts the most stress on the tranny.

question on the 22 shocks, is the majority still cutting the center of the bladders and running them as an emulsion shock or leaving them as is. I know when I ran the 22t i cut the bladders and it made the truck much better.

^^ so then you just use the normal plastic sliders?

Good idea, since changing just the slider is super easy.
