According to Tekin the 5.5 is rated for 2s max whereas the 7.5 is able to handle 3s.

I'm thinking on 2s I should go up a couple of teeth on the pinion. It accelerates rather quickly and tops out in a short distance (20-30ft) plus it only gets warm to the touch.

Thank you. Seem like this is a slow thread. No one running these? I like the idea of only having a set of back up parts for two vehicles. My scte handles so well I am getting one to make it a buggy..

I have built one and hope to put it to the test here soon. I too looked at this as a back up to my scte. From the little I have driven it , it feels real good. We shall see.

These buggies aren't really popular since they aren't technically roar-legal so this thread doesn't get much attention compared to the other 1/8 e-buggies out there.

I've been playing with mine and it has been a blast! Seems like my lipo came alive after a few cycles and it's been screaming. SOOOO much instant power on acceleration and it handles like a dream. I've been jumping everything that I can and actually tore the rear-end up last weekend bashing at the park.

I put the SCTE chassis and rear cvd in it. It measures damn near that of my Losi 8 nitro buggy. I am going to run this car in a series this summer, My SCTE was as durable as it needed to be, no reason this should not last. Time will tell and if worse came to worse I have a spare SCTE....

Well I converted my SCTE and I ran it as a buggy for the first time today. I was using a MMP w SC4X 5.5 on a 2s. It handle very well and I was clearing all the jumps the nitro and other e buggies were, but my laps were slower lap times due to the straight speeds.

I am getting myself a mamba monster with a 2200kv motor and run it on a 3s or 4s lipo..

My son is going to run the one we bought from wrightcs77 with the MMP and sc4x..

On larger tracks, outdoor tracks I'd imagine it would be tough running anything less than 3s lipo. Motor choices would be a 540,550 4pole if not a buggy motor 36x60mm range or castle 1512 in size.

I'm going 3s myself, with a 2600-3300kv motor 4-pole 540,550. I have a nice 2200kv tekno motor that would be pretty good but I'm thinking the lighter motors with a little more kv would be nice. Who knows though,, I may change my mind and just run what I have, even a castle 3800kv on 3s would be pretty quick.

I never though about it that way, smaller lighter motor would work. What has everyone else tried?

Best bet on 2s is what everyone has clumped to,, the tekin pro4 4600. If that can push the bigger scte brother, it'll be easy working on the lighter buggy. On 3s it opens up options further. That castle 2400kv 1415 and/or any other 4pole similar should be kick butt.. My first choice was actually the Tekin 3300kv pro4, but I'm being a little cheap and have not made the purchase yet, so we shall see. I have so many motors here, I hate to buy more LOL.

Edit that: I just won a losi 2800kv (550 scte motor) on ebay for 60, looks like that is my motor of choice on 3s :P

i run my 810 on a 1415 with a 3S and it rips. as fast or faster than most buggies. IMO, the motor was overpowering the short wheelbase. i put a SCTE chassis on my buggy and i wouldn't say it's MUCH better, but it's definitely better. easier to keep in a straight line on the straight away. i can get to and hold full throttle longer (which still is very momentary).

I plan on a similar starting setup as my scte to be honest.. (even the no sway front).. we'll see but I may go with a slightly softer spring but plan on 5,5,2 for the diffs on the outdoor 1/8 track to start may go with stock grease in the front and center if I don't like the feel of oils though. I'm getting ancy but this build is basically on hold until I'm finished with my indoor racing series w/ the scte in 2 weeks. I am moving several parts over from that rig to this buggy. I already have my new scte setup for the start of outdoor racing.. I just hope weather agree's w/ race days this year so we can get going soon. Rest of the parts go to finishing up the nitro scte I have up for sale, that is if it doesn't sell as the partial I have it currently listed as.
