. . . Matt
You don't need the new towers if you don't want them. The bb shock kit comes with spacers to mount them.

I spoke to my friend at AE, who had a hand in the design, and he told me that the tower is a tad more aggressive in design as well as the addition of a 3rd hole. The arms have been beefed up. Not necessarily a must, but could be worth a look. As for adjusting for BB, as stated, those running the other BB springs (avid, losi, or Kyo) have just spaced them accordingly.

I found the parts list for the new 44.2 and did the math. Most everything is the same other than the BB, towers, chassis, slipper, upper decks, rear CVA, and the battery tray/straps. When I totaled everything I would need, it came in Under $150 (W/O the BB factored in). I got my car for WAAAAAAY below the Tower price (even below dealer cost) and figured if the conversion came in less than the going rate for the new B44.2 kit, then i might just convert my existing car. Tower lists the car at $370. I figure if i can get everything for around $150, I think I'm doing good,

I got closet to 300 for all the parts, Slipper, slipper shaft, New body all the graphite, and with shocks. Looking at 300 to convert a 44.1 to a 44.2. Shock towers front and rear are thicker. Who is your bud at AE. KNow a few peeps there also.

Ignore the manual and use the B44.2 manual, as they finally corrected the shimming section. 6 on the gear side, 3 on the other. There should be ZERO side to side play once placed in the transmission casing. If it feels slightly tight, don't worry, it'll loosen up within a couple runs.

Default B44.2 battery straps

If I want the quick release battery straps from the B44.2 in my B44.1, can I just get the straps and hardware (ASC9906) or do I need the cradles too?

Has anyone run the avid triad slipper as well as the vst slipper for the 4x4 sc10? Are they worth it? I read that the garolite pads are pretty legit as well. What are the differences in between the three different setups?

I think you need the cradle as well. I want to do the same thing, the thumb nuts are PITA.

You can't use the vts in the 44.1 you have to get the 44.2 chassie and if you get that you need the top decks. I here the avid triad is well worth it.

PDub mentioned that a spacer will be available for the Triad when used in the B44.2 due to the increased distance of the bulkheads.

I am thinking that the FT shafts that hold the thumb screws should also be able to hold the ball stud and quick release from the 44.2 straps.
