getting a couple BJ4 buggies, and was told the parts are interchangeable with the B44.

is this correct?

They will be used in our kids rc program, and really don't want to have to try and source parts.

Thanks

For the most part the parts are not interchangeable.! They have small differences that make it difficult to make them fit. The only things I remember that direct fit are, shocks, rear hubs. The major parts and the stuff that breaks regularly do not transfer over.

Don't rely on the parts being interchangeable. B44 parts aren't carried quite as widely or deeply in stock too compared to a B4.

Hi,

You need big bore collars and spring cups for the BB springs on the AE shocks,

Something like this:

GHEA 2070 BB spring collars.

Or the Avid versions:

Link

For spring cups the Losi 22 or the Durango BB spring cups fit.

Buy the shims now and make sure there is NO side to side play / movement of the outdrives, especially the rear gearbox. If It's not shimmed right, you ruin the bevel gear and need to replace it. Pick up an extra bevel gear set too in case.

I've found 2 shims one the side as the manual suggest, and 6 shims on the bevel gear side (instead of 4) worked best for me. Have the gear mesh be tighter rather than looser if in doubt, otherwise you'll strip the gears. I went through a few gear sets myself figuring this out
