I was talking to a guy at the track this past weekend about his Rx8. He said it's been back to Tekin 5 times for repair. Not saying they aren't a good product. But I asked him how he liked his and that was the response.

Yeah, I've read that too. From what I've read Tekin fixed all the bugs over the summer months, but that still left me a little skittish. I've had such good luck with CC products that I decided to stick with them. I know the MMM is not perfect, but it seems that the it is more robust than the RX8.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's just a minor annoyance. Even in a racing environment, I don't see it causing an issue, as the car is (should be, at least!) always moving.

Plus, I like the wiring on the MMM better. I really don't care for the solder posts on the RX8 and Redline motors.

I think the consensus with it was while you're in the air. Minor throttle movements affect how the car lands. Gun it in the air and it stands itself straight up. Hit the brakes in the air and it nose dives. So the slight movements with the throttle while the car is in the air, slows the motor faster so you end up feathering the gas to keep it from stalling in the air. I never really noticed. I just learn to drive the car. Lol

What kind of batteries did you order again Gregg? I only ran the Zippy 6S LiPo last night, and I left the stock settings in place on the ESC. I knew I should have gone in and tweaked it some, but I didn't. From the factory the LiPo cutoff is set to 3V per cell.

I didn't think much of it last night and ran the car until I was getting cold and my boy was getting cold. The car still had plenty of punch, so I figured the battery was good to go. Before running the car, I balance charged it, and it charged just fine. After I let the battery cool, I put it back on the charger to balance charge. When I checked the cell voltages, the first cell was much lower than the others. It had dropped down to 2.95 volts, IIRC, while the others were still a good bit over 3V (I can't recall exactly, maybe as high as 3.1V). The charger defaults to a very slow charge when any cell is less than 3V or the imbalance is over 10mV (or thereabouts). The battery charged up just fine, and after all cells were over 3V and within a few mV of each other, I continued charging at 1C. It charged just fine.

I'll probably run it through a discharge cycle on the charger tonight to measure capacity and watch to see how it does. I may run the 5S battery tonight, but I'm not sure. I still need to balance the tires.

Anyway, I changed the cutoff to 3.2V per cell. Hopefully this battery isn't toast.

I just ordered a 4S lipo from Hobby Partz. They are just as cheap as HK, but they are in southern California. So I don't have to wait that long. I haven't gotten it yet. But as far as I can tell it's got the same connectors as the HK batteries, I'm sure it's the same manufacturer. They are called Blue Lipo. I was at hobbytown yesterday and I had to hold myself back from buying the Reedy 4S 5000mah pack. I wanted it. $200 plus tax though. I'm still probably going to get it. I just didn't yesterday. I paced back and forth for about 15 minutes though. And I should have just gotten it.

Found the site. The batteries do indeed look the same. I might be interested in ordering a couple of batteries from them since it'll be faster and close to the same price. I just wish they posted dimensions for all batteries, not just some of them on the site!

Yeah I think they are the same batts. Also I wouldn't order without the dimensions. So the one I ordered definitely had dimensions.

And Ezh pinion size is a preference and depends on the conditions your running in. Are you going for speed or running at a track, short track, long track etc. But you do need a "mod 1" pinion size.

Yes, I know I'll need different size,
but with what to begin?

Both the buggy kit and the Mmm 2200 come with pinions. I installed the one that came with the motor. I also bought a castle 21 pinion.

I bought 17T, 19T, and 21T Mod 1 pinions from Hot Bodies to use with my Grid mount. So far, I've only used the 21T with a 6S battery and 1800 kV CC motor, and it's crazy fast. Still has tons of power (will spin Road Rages from a standing start on rough concrete!). I imagine 19T would be a good starting point and should still be quite fast. I imagine it would handle a 21T just fine too.

I believe so. The manual says it comes with bronze and black. I bought an extra set of silver rear springs and they look just like the ones that came in the kit. Go figure. Fronts are bronze for sure. I'll double check tonight because now I'm doubting myself.
