Default Wing

What is the benefit or purpose of running the 8.2 wing mount?

Yes. Due to shocks mounting in center of arms instead of on top..

less downforce on the rear since it is lower.
If your track has fast sweeping corners, you will want the taller (RC8B) wing mount to increase downforce.
That is how I understand it.

good option to have both actually

Has anyone gone to a different wing than the stock RC8 wing? It keeps breaking in the same place, right beside the wing mount.

Also, anyone else find the stock rear springs to be very soft? I'm bottoming out on the lips of jumps at my local track ... thinking of going to the silver springs with 30wt oil.

I am running the J concepts Illuzion wing. It has taken quite a beating and retains its shape.

I forgot to add a bit of info about the shorter shafts for the 8.2, if you run the original shafts your will destroy the blatters on the first jump. As for springs, I am running the 8.2 springs on my worlds 8b (now 8be for the winter ) and they seem more consistant then my old springs, which were probably just worn out.

How much shorter are the 8.2 shafts? Just trying to decide if I realy want to spend the money on these upgrades now if I need new shocks shafts (I am assuming all the way around, and new springs.

that is a wise move on the springs.

The 8.2 shock shafts are 2-3mm shorter.

Not sure I understand why it would destroy the bladder, I can see if you ran longer shafts in a shorter body, but the original shocks are made to take full compression right? And at 2-3mm I dont see the need to spend more money then need be. I will take a closer look at my shocks this evening at home but as long as you can take the original shocks to full compression without the piston/nut/shaft contacting the bladder you should be fine ... its no different then your shock on the original RC8 going to full compression.

And if I need to put a 3mm limiter on the outside of the shaft that wont kill me either ... I am all about the best bang for the buck here.

I just got one of these it's pretty much how it was out of the boxes. The guy before me drove it maybe 5 race days. I notice something is botteming out should I put stiffer rear shocks

Stock rear springs are the softest of the bunch. Try some silvers and go for 30-35wt shock oil depending on the track you drive at.

Alright I'll have to order some springs. My track is pretty rough couple big jumps I notice it on the rougher sections. Braking and acceleration bumps

Keep an eye on the rear on jump faces, this is also another time when the rear can slap pretty badly.

I haven't gotten a chance to order silvers for myself yet but from what I have seen the stock rear springs are not a great setup. Maybe for bluegroove/smooth tracks with small jumps, but not for large kickers and rough offroad tracks.

Question ... has anyone adapted the RC8.2e mudguards to work with the RC8e arms? I am tempted to just drill holes in the arms and buy a pack of those mudguards to bolt on. Seems like a nice touch to keep some of the dirt out of the rear outdrive/shock area.
