Made a number of changes to the car on Friday and wow, what a difference. Finally got some steering out of it! Basically running the Cav Reedy setup. Didnt have time to install everything that came in last week but for the first qual, I ran the carbon front arms and the front shocks with 35wt, #2 pistons, 2 limiters, Avid white springs (back was still kit setup), and a full size battery (thin pad forward). Car had tons of steering and felt pretty good out back too. We only had 5 heats so I barely had time to rebuild the rear shocks but went with 30wt, #2 pistons, 2 limiters, Avid whites, 1/2oz in the rear triangles, and 1/2oz under the receiver as well. Rear bite didnt change much but I lost some steering (wanted to pull the weights out of the triangles after the warm up laps but didnt have a chance to do it. For the main, I tried the Avid yellows out back and removed the weight from under the receiver. Car felt pretty good all the way around (could use a touch more steering) but is very stable and I was able to brake pretty heavy without having the rear come around (much more so than in the past). I shaved the u-brace but didnt have a chance to install it or the C mounts and I still need to install the B44 rear arms to complete the setup to test for next week. I'm planning on trying 1/4oz in each rear triangle next week with the yellows and will also try no weights with the white springs. Shaved .7 seconds from last weeks setup and .4 from my fastest ever on this layout (was running the TLR22). Going the right direction but I need to shave 1 more second to get on pace with the fast guys.

Oh, installed the XFactory topshaft, JConcepts silent series spur, and installed a new pinion (Robinson) to address the noisy trans issue I was having and I'm happy to report that it is almost silent now, huge difference! Replaced the topshaft bearings as well (Proteks). Picked up a new idler gear but they were out of diff gears. I'll install both when they arrive and I'm fairly certain the noise issue will be completely gone.

Let my buddy drive the car after the race; Track 1, front hex axle 0!

I have a problem it's like my car doesn't want to go off the start but once it gets going it is good. It only happens when on the track I can hold it up and it will start up perfectly no delay. I was thinking it was my new tekin setup but it's fine when I hold it in the air and gas it. Also maybe because my wheels rounded a little on the hex part but than why would it be fine when it gets going. I was thinking the slipper pads also but why would it be fine when it gets going. Idk I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you notice the JC branded thumbscrews on the lipo strap.

Yeah they are really coming out with some killer products. The aluminum rack is supposed to be lighter than the Avid rack.

Really?!?! The AVID unit is 3g heavier than stock and with some of us adding additional weight to the nose, the extra weight is a godsend!

Agreed, I've added 5g on top of an aluminum pivot and 5g in each of the front triangles.

So I guess im gonna fold under peer preasure:lol: and see how the Losi BB springs work. I run brown/green 30/27.5(Losi) and a full stick pack currently. The track is medium to high bite clay. From what I gather from you guys I should start with yellow rears and orange fronts? Im gonna order wht and yellow rears and red and orange fronts to give myself some tunning options but this is a good starting point correct?

I run 30/27.5 with red/white Losi bbs and love it. I tried red/yellow and just has way to much steering for me.

whats the part number for trhe xfactory top shaft and where did u get it? its funny you mentioned it as i was just going through my transmission ans noticed that whenever you adjust the slipper it preeses on the bearing race which inturn is pushing the spacer over and then the gear is lightly rubbing the opposite side tranny case, or just binding slightly on the bearing and making the gears not stay riding 100% true

Top shaft

Tom,

The part # is 5210. Amain and X-Factory have them in stock. I'm pretty sure RCE has a couple on the wall as well if you up in that area.

I picked it up from Amain. I replaced the bearing on the slipper side of the top shaft and took extra effort to ensure the bearing was seated all the way in the trans case. Not sure what part actually made it so much quieter but I didnt have the time to try things out individually.

In order to use the BB springs I need the traxxas collars and 22 cups correct? I know other companies make these but in general this will work?
