Sorry... rambling. Its just frustrating to see racers as their own demise. There can only be one winner on raceday... and 2nd place is first loser. But im cool with that... because NOW im having FUN.
I work on a sprint car, well when it is not winter, and I take that very seriously. I've won a lot of races and championships over the last ten years and at times, when we are running like crap, I am miserable. John and I constantly run our mouths to each other and while everyone is talking about set-ups and how to get faster we are comparing who is more childish. I absolutely refuse to take this seriously.
Also due is running losi pistons? I follow maifields setup for the car, I drive aggressive so it should work. Funny how in one week my car is so pushy due to track bite going way up.
only a good thing tho=]
What are your opinions on running mod rotors in 13.5 non roar events and club racing? I recently aquired a Fantom ION2 13.5 and happened to have the spare 12.5 mod rotor from my ION3 8.5. I put it in my B4.1 in place of a Novak SS Pro 13.5. Geared the same 31/75 and the Fantom seems a couple mph faster and def more punch, 115 degrees after 5 min. So I geared up to 31/69 and it is REALLY fast. Tons of punch and it has huge top end. Wheelies if I punch it at anything less than 1/8th throttle on the straight. Came off at 135 after 5 min. No added timing on the motor and esc is a GTB2. Is it fair to run a mod rotor in super stock non ROAR?

Tim Allison, we run at Lima on Fridays and then travel a little on Saturdays. I also help Darren Long a little here and there. I've spent some time in Indiana at Gas City, Lawrenceburg, and Kokomo. The non-wing guys are a lot more fun to hang out with but wings are closer for me. Had the chance to be at Lil Shu's place for an airing of Jackslash and that was an experience for sure. Joe Devin has to be one of the coolest guys period.
I'm sorry is this has already but discussed, but didn't see anything on a quick search.
So looking at the springs they are using, the best I can figure out is they are running these springs weights on the front:
Kyosho White = 3.72 lbs./in.
Kyosho Pink - 3.58 lbs./in.
Losi Red = 2.5 lbs./in.
Those seem really heavy comparing to a Associated Brown which is 2.8 lbs./in.
In the rear:
Kyosho Gold - 2.5 lbs./in.
Losi White - 1.8 lbs./in.
As compared to the Associated Green which in 1.9 lbs./in.
Am I looking at this right?

No, you are correct. They are running a much stiffer spring. Except for Chad. He is running softer, although he is the only person I have seen run red fronts. Most run silver or orange. I think the Kyohso springs may be progressive, but I don't know that for a fact. Either way, every BB setup I have seen has been with considerably stiffer springs than std. I myself run silver front with yellow rear (losi springs) most of the time.

Front
K White 3.22
K Pink 3.08
rear
Gold 2.14
So yes they are heavier expect for due's losi spring setup which seemed light...
But also the car is longer and things are a bit different with that, you know how the standard spring for the T4.1 was Blue (3.45) and the SC10 was around Blue to Red (3.45-3.90) so a little bit stiffer up front than the brown makes sense, and the kyo pink is lighter (assumed actual) then the AE silver, which it wasnt super uncommon to see people using..
Thats at least how i like to rationalize it in my head, prob not even close

I agree. Now I know that I have nowhere near the same driving skill as the fast and consistent guys at the track but when I'm getting smoked on the straight (not much skill needed to point and pull the trigger) and I ask what they are running and they say "17.5 nt" I cry foul. And this in both buggy and SC 2wd. Oh well I've got other driving issues I need to worry about anyways.

Has anyone noticed on Cavalieris car on the worlds box that his springs are old Losi springs? It looks as if he took all the coating off of them but left a little pink on the bottom of the rear and marked the silver with a little paint. Yet the setups still say brown and green. I believe that the longer chassis may actually need a little firmer spring as well.

I am starting to think they do some funny stuff to their cars so people come on here and post about it over and over again.
Not attacking you. just something I have been seeing the last few weeks or hell. after I bought my Buggy lol
