Here is my new finnisher worlds body on my b4.1. Great looking body, went with a simple 2 tone paint scheme. I downloaded a mask and transferred it to blue painters tape via an exacto knife. I really like how it came out.

Of course, this is just prior to me racing my buggy....before it got insanely caked with clay haha.

let me know what you guys think....

^^^ Looks good!

I finally got around to the BB spring conversion, wish I would have done it sooner. Kyosho white/gold, rpm collars and losi cups.

Default 17.5 blinky and 13.5 mod buggy

I just bought a 17.5 D3 to run in stock blinky buggy, and a 13.5 to run in the mod buggy. What is a good gearing for these. I ran the 17.5 today with 75/33 and 75% timing on the motor and felt it needed a little more to clear the doubles. What should i gear and time this thing at. Also what is a good start for the 13.5 , boost and ESC timing allowed. Thanks...

The absolute best thing to do is ask one of the fast guys at your local track? Where do you race?

Looks good Steve!

I did that today too, but with the losi springs. The kyosho springs are a little too rich for me. I'm really impressed how nicely the parts fit on the associated shocks. At the same time I softened up the rear of the car a bit and it feels a lot more stable now.

Realistically I don't know that that are that much different from any of the smaller bore springs besides that they don't rub the shock body and they look way cooler. That's reason enough for me though.

Timmmmmmah, are you the same guy from MWIR years and years ago?

Jerz616, it entirely depends on the size of the track and the bite. On my B4.1 with the 13.5, even at 87/18, I don't hit top speed on the straight at my local indoor track. Granted, it's a tiny track, but that's how I gear.

Default shocks

Could some one give a good summary of the bb shock mod you are all doing. I don't have the time to look at all the posts for the last 200 pages. 3 kids under 4 will have that effect on your days.

Its just bigger diameter springs on our shocks. It uses rpm upper spring retainers over the the threaded collars and tlr lower retainers. You can use losi or kyosho big bore springs. The effects are debatable, but a couple sure advantages are listed in my previous post.

Does anyone know why my rear inner bearings keep on going bad? I am building it per the manual and after a few runs my left rear wheel locks up because of the seized bearing.

Now my rear hub carrier is destroyed because it chewed up the aluminum. I've had the car for only two weeks with less than 15 packs on it. Car was purchased new and I did lube the bearings before installing.

Should I call AE about this?

Make sure you are using the crush tube(#7933) inside the hub, also not to forget the two 3/16th axle shims (#7368) between the blue wheel spacer(#9608B) and bearing on the hub ....

Should not have to check at all , the parts are usually very reliable .

I could suspect the wrong size crush tube perhaps ?

There are 2 sizes and if you use the wrong tube the problems your having could occur ....

standard crush tube # 7377( use with 3/16th bearing hubs)

#7933 for hubs using the over size .187x0.50 bearing

hey guys i just want to make sure i buy the right stuff the first time so im just hopeing someone can clarify that ive got the right stuff in mind. I want to try the BB shock mod just for the looks basically and also it annoys me that the rear springs rub the shock body so i thought i would try this mod. I want to get the losi springs closest in rate to the stock ae springs (brown front and green back) I have highlighted the ones i think i need but i just wnt to make sure the spring rates are measured the same way.
Front b4.1 spring rates
• Two blue 4.20 lb. springs (#6497)
• Two silver 3.85 lb. springs (#6496)
• Two green 3.50 lb. springs (#6494)
• Two black 3.20 lb. springs (#8232)
Two brown 2.80 lb springs (#6493)
Rear
• (2) Green 1.90 lb.
• (2) Silver 2.10 lb.
• (2) Blue 2.55 lb.
• (2) Gold 2.75 lb.
• (2) Red 3.03 lb.
Losi 22 front spring rates
2.5 Rate/Red
2.9 Rate/Orange springs
3.2 Rate/Silver
3.4 Rate/Silver springs
3.5 Rate/Green
3.8 Rate/Blue
4.1 Rate/Black

Losi 22 rear rates
1.6 Rate/Grey
1.8 Rate/White
2.0 Rate/Yellow
2.3 Rate/Pink
2.6 Rate/Red
2.9 Rate/Orange

thanks

I don't quite understand how Cav is using a spring rate which is completely off from what is noted above.
White KYO front BB - 3.72 spring rate vs. AE Brown 2.80 lb springs
Gold KYO rear BB - 2.50 spring rate vs. AE Green 1.90 lb.

Has anyone tested the spring rates of the BB vs. standard to see if its a 1:1?
