An on power push means too much weight transfer to the rear wheels. Try heavier oil/springs in the rear. More camber up front/less in the rear. Less ballstud washers in the rear/ more up front. Even really soft foams in the rear tires will add to the problem so re-foam them if the foams are dead. It will help too

The RTR kits have 3* of toe. The 0.5* hubs add another 0.5*, making the total 3.5*. This also can be accheived by using the new antisqaut blocks. The kit has 2.3,3.0.3.5 and 4.0 blocks.

This kit?

Come on now, I know you're experienced enough to be able to look and tell if its the thicker or thinner shim... Or to just remember what you put in the car to begin with...right:lol:

spring rates

Let's talk spring rates.

If you cut a spring how many coils would you cut before it was the same as the next color spring?
Also, does removing the color coating change the rate of the spring at all, very little, or possibly a noticeable amount? I noticed the coating is kind of thick.

Thanks

Changing the length of spring does not change spring rate, it just changes how far the spring can compress. However, a shorter spring will "feel" stiffer as the compression rate is more aggressive.
I'm not sure removing the powder coating does anything but help with clearance on the body. As far as I know powder coating has no spring constant, but I may be wrong on this.

Cutting coils off does though

I put the ryan cavalieri set-up on my car (what everyone at my track runs) and the buggy pushes badly on throttle. I currently have green springs in the rear with the shock all the way out on the tower. Next time out I will try the silvers in the rear. Any other thoughts. any and all input is appreciated.--Al

What are you running for shock oil? The Hot rod Cav setup shows 35wt because of the heat. Most run some version of 30 front and 27.5 or 25 rear. Also if you are running full rear foam in the front wheels it will cause a push.

I know that it would seem that the powder coating doesn't have an effect, but it's just so thick on the spring that I thought perhaps it actually does keep the steel from flexing to some point. I'm hoping someone with some spring testing equip who was bored at some point did some extensive tests just for fun.;)

So as far as cutting coils off makes it feel stiffer, I know I can just test it on the track, but I also know others have already done it and I'm willing to accept their findings...so how many coils makes a spring "feel" like the next heaviest? (I'm only concerned with the AE springs...like green rear to silver rear, for example)

Also, I think Cav likes losi oils, doesn't he? So if he ran losi 35 that would actually be assoc. 30. If he ran Assoc 35 that would be losi 42.5. VERY big difference between those numbers, as far as feel anyway, especially on the buggy.

The reason Losi oil was run is because, at the time, Team Associated didn't offer half weights. Losi 35 would be equivalent to AE 32.5. AE 35 is equivalent to Losi 37.5.

Is there a shock oil comparison chart somewhere online?
