@ted cool. I have heard mixed feelings about the dex just like the losi. Eventually people say they are chasing setups. On the up side, if you sell your b4, when you come back the b4.2 will be out, lol.

I did some c hub testing, as there was some chatter about it last week. The c hubs, in my opinion, do NOT increase traction. They cause the car to rotate smoother. I found with the c hubs, I was able to keep more speed in the "S" turn as the rear had a more rotation, but it seemed very controlled. I would not say it was loose, I would say it was controlled rotation in the rear. The rear slipped a little, but but I was able to keep more speed. It definitely made the S turn smoother. but it did take a few laps to get used too. I kept thinking it would break loose, but never did. But I in no way see the C hubs as MORE traction. That was my 2 cents.

lol, I was using other people words not mine. I never really understood why that was. I assume the track was not consistent over the night of racing. Maybe it switched from wet to dry. Or the groove developed and altered the cars handling.

Shaved brace with 1 .030 washer and C-Hubs have been the most consistent for me. I love the way the car handles.

Thumbs Up ! |
anyone using an alum u brace instead of shaving the carbon? I think strc makes a flat brace. I was concerned about strc though because i have seen people complain about their quality.

dont get me wrong, it was fine. But it definitely gave the car a different feel. More like I floated through the corner as opposed to forcing the car. Like i said I kept thinking, it is going to break loose, but it never did. It was very unsettling for me, lol. But i got used to it and liked it.

I ran last weekend on an indoor smooth med bite track. Normally i run on an outdoor low bite track. I plan to run them this weekend on the outdoor track and see if the rotation is too much. I tried the C a while back on the outdoor track and it felt different so I swapped them out, but I plan to give them more of a shot after my indoor experience. I could definitely use rotation that allows me to keep my speed.

i actually just put my C hub towers on this weekend. running 1 washer on the inside hole with shaved brace and the B hole on the tower. i remember reading somewhere that the new towers come with a washer to spread the load on in to prevent breakage. is this correct? i put a .030 washer right under the locknut the C hub towers come with. not sure if that's correct.

I personally would stick with a plastic or carbon brace. Much cheaper to replace if you happen to snap off a ball stud in the piece. But, to each there own. Only takes a minute to shave the brace down.

A while back, WC said that if you take a 7.5 motor and limit the top endpoint, you would lose low end power. This never made any sense to me. I heard someone in our stock class say he was using a detuned 8.5 in stock. Since it is club racing, I guess no one cares. I assume he liked the power curve better on the detuned mod. Is this true about limiting the top end end point? I limit my kids top end and am curious as to weather or not I am reducing her bottom end also.
at least that's how it was described to me. |
