I see the gear box is wider to fit the gear diff. So is the gear box plastic? If it's aluminum, I wonder why they went with black instead of blue.

It's alloy... I think they revamped it to allow the use of the Gear diff...but not being Blue is kind of stange... not really a deal buster... but it would have been nice since the car has all of the other stuff in Tamiya Blue

Also what is interesting to see is that Tamiya is not including the Pro-line Phantom Body now with the kit.... Your just getting the XR/XM Body..

Color change for the "updated" case is so they can be easily distinguished from one another.

Looks like we might have a slipper eliminator that fits the TRF201 soon .... possibly a couple of other things if all works out well .. that will be for the transmission

So my 201 just arrived from Tamiya and my XR long chassis conversion kit should be here by the end of the week. Question: Will the body that came with the kit also fit on the XR chassis? I plan on sending the body from the XR kit to the painter and wondered if I should send the kit body too?

You can buy the slipper eliminator from Exotek. Perfect fit from a B5. I have one.

Kit body will not fit the XR chassis. RB6 body and the P/L Phantom body also with some trimming required.

OK ... got a bit of info for you guys that are trying to purchase this kit from somewhere over in Asia... Tamiya is taking orders for the kits from most of the shops during the Shizuoka hobby show.. so that means that the Japan shops will be able to get them out quicker than the Hong Kong shops this time.. unlike when the TRF503 was released..

So far Pro Shop Futaba & CHAMP have returned e-mails... it looks like Champ has the best price so far....
