[QUOTE=zipperfoot;11113128]Few questions before I make the purchase...

Does anyone know the final drive ratio so I can figure out my own gearing without having to bug you guys?
I plan on running a 13.5. What gearing works?

Found this funny since you went ahead and "bugged" us anyways about gearing.

Also, I am going to run at SRS which is an outdoor track, hard pack, and at a indoor clay/dirt track. Should I start with RM3 or RM4?

Billy fisher runs rm4 at srs and rm3 at tuscan.
His setups found here: http://www.petitrc.com/setup/durango...ngoDEX210.html

Finally, everyone seems to be running four hole pistons, in the range of 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4. Does anyone make pistons in this size or should I just drill out some blanks?
Ghea racing makes them for the car but they are 22 bucks on Amain.
I epoxied the stock ones to have 4 holls and have worked fine. I would recommend that unless you want to drop the 66 bucks or so to get all 3 types.

I just ordered two sets from Nick (4 x 1.3 and 4 x 1.4):
http://www.oople.com/forums/showthre...hlight=tapered
I believe they're coming from England, and run about $9.00 / pair. Have yet to receive them, but noticed other forum members have purchased from him w/ good results. I'll follow up when they arrive.

So is it just me, or is there VERY LITTLE clearance between the rear axle and the diff screw nut Seems I have to crank down on the diff screw nearly all the way so the axle doesn't rub on the nut.

It's close, but if everything is built and broken in properly it doesn't rub, and is not too tight.

My first question about gearing and you consider that bugging you? Ok.... My apologies. I run several types of motors in my cars depending on what class i race. If i got on the forums and asked for gearing options every time i switched motors i would consider that "bugging you". Not cool. Thats why I asked for the final drive ratio.

Fyi I went back a couple thousand pages and read up on springs, gearing, motor layouts, etc. I used the search function, and came up with a bunch of information, some current, some old, some for mid motor, etc. some of the info given was just plain wrong. I thought my questions were relevant to current trends and conditions. thanks to those who helped.

Appreciate the info.

Default List of Spares to Buy at Initial Purchase

Hey Guys, after much research, I finally ordered my DX210 from my LHS (YAY!!!). I was choosing against the TLR22. I couldn't fathom the steering slop of that steering slider system that they got and didn't want to have to run saddle packs if I wanted to switch from rear to mid motor mounting.

Anyway, I wanted to compile a list of "easily breakable" parts to order ahead of time. Here is what I found so far. Can someone add/verify?

I found several occurrences of people needing
Rear Shock Tower #TD330342
Rear Inner Toe Blocks (part#?)
Ballcups #TD330293

I found some people stating these are needed as well, can people chime in? I don't want to purchase things unnecessarily:
Steering Plate? (part#?)
Front Shock Tower? #TD330342
A-arms? #TD330337, #TD330338
Castor blocks? (part#?)
Spindles? (part#?)

Thanks and I can't wait to build and drive it!

Can someone also confirm part numbers?

Absolute bare minimum is the CF rack and an aluminum RF hinge pin block. CF towers makes it one of the toughest buggies I've seen. I carry spares of all moving suspension parts, spare gearbox, trans internals, etc. Basically everything but the chassis/sidepods. Very rarely is any of it needed, but nothing is worse than traveling to a track that doesn't have a hobby shop, paying to race, and needing a part you don't have. Hauling all that stuff around for multiple cars sucks though...
