I have had a dumb idea in my head for a little bit, so here it is? Someone make a short coarse. Truck out of a b44 ,bj4 or a losi 4wd. Could it be done or has it been done?????

rcjunky1 02-23-2010 03:58 AM

A guy did it with a B44 with a kyosho body with the stock chassis, try searching for a SC Lite, it was pretty cool, and the kyosho body is really short so the wheel base worked well

another quick update- It has been a very productive weekend. I have all the programming done for all the peices for the SCT kit(chassis, upper deck,R shock tower, battery cup, battery cover, battery door).I have 2 sets of chassis parts cut for the SCT right now.I am doing a mock up assembly of 1 as I go to fit check parts as I go the other is Cains truck:nod:.I am just working on other shared peices between the kits right now(motor plate, counter gear cam plate, tranny braces. I will post pics later tonight of a chassis set bolted together. There are a couple things on the production chassis that were not on our prototype chassis you guys saw pics of.
1- quick release battery door- it takes removing 1 thumbscrew to get your battery out of the truck in the event of a battery mishap(puffing lipo etc.).This was really important to us for safety. We dont want anybody getting hurt trying to get a battery out of their car in that situation, or watching their car go up in flames because they couldnt get the battery out in time.
Also the battery door can be on either side of the chassis for ease of wiring. And it only takes swaping 1 bolt and the thumbscrew to change which side the door is on.

On another subject, we are now getting sellable quality bodies off the vacform equipment. The pics posted below are of a mold we used to get the equipment up and running. We WILL NOT be selling this body. It is a mold of a stock B4 body. This body is however an example what we are going to call our HD line (heavy duty). It was pulled using .060" stock. Standard bodies are made from either .020" or .030". We are going to market these HD bodies toward bashers who generally dont care about a few extra grams of weight. In the pics below is our .060" body (blue overspray film) next to a stock B4 body. It's hard to see in the pic due to the blue film, but even doing it in .060" it retained all the cut lines and window lines on the body. After taking these pics I then trimmed our .060" body out and weighed both the stock one and our .060" body.

Stock AE body= 33grams
PSI .060" body= 52 grams
That's weight with the overspray film still on the bodies.
I am going to paint this one and post pics of it in a few days.

Congrats 2WD on all your hard work paying off! Gonna have to count al my pennies to see if I can pick up a Academy conversion. Thanks again for all your hard work.

2wdMod 03-01-2010 10:45 AM

thanks Joel. i wanted to add that tackling the sct first is getting alot of peices that will be shared with the kits out of the way. That will make programming the buggy and truck a cakewalk.Literally 3 peices for each one to program(main chassis, upper deck,R shock tower) so I should beable to be running parts for both of those in under a days time. Also I should have some pics of box art to show off by tomorrow, and some pics of the manual by wed, thurs at the latest!

Good to hear all is going well. I don't think buggy bodies in .060 would gain anything as you said, but if you make wings, that would go over well for those of us who tend to flip alot. I think a mid motor body like that of the x-6 would be cool on the mid motor losi's, you could even do a little signature type thing so you have bodies that are reconizable, like JC has the arched roofs.

very nice 2wdMod.

I know for one I wouldn't mind a super heavy duty SCT body. seems they definitely would take beatings. Maybe even some really heavy duty VTA legal bodies too?

rcjunky1 03-03-2010 12:02 PM

anything that breaks easy, vta bodies, buggy wings, basher bodies, somehow if you could do just a back section of a losi body to go inside the stock ones on the inside to re inforce the back of it.

Alright, in between 10 hour sessions in the work shop I have started putting together our store front. It is still under construction, and there is nothing for sale there yet, but feel free to stop in and scope it out.I should be listing kits and other parts for sale by friday. The URL is;http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Mid-Motor-R-C

The name of our store is Mid Motor R/C.

Cain, your sct kit will go out in the AM, just have to finish a couple details and it will be ready for its box.
