see 2wdmod has the right Idea.{and i still want one},this is what the hobby is all about building something you like and race it ,Don't wait for the big 3 or 4 car makers build one for you so you can say oooo they copied this or it looks like that.So lets all of us build are own cars,or how about a home built cars class [that wood cool].thanks to you 2wdmod the hobby is almost back to were it should be, thank you very much. Nice to see others doing the same thing.:tire::tire::nod:

When we built our 4-Gear tranny, we measured gear spacing to the nearest 10,000th and worked the tool three times to get it correct. A very expensive proposition, but the results are great. Gear spacing is as much art as science
Funny as it took me 2 tries to get the mesh right on mine, and the second try was actually calculated with the basic formula for gears, rather than measured like I did on the first try, and my 4-gears tranny makes much less noise than that of an X-6. :ha: |

All I have to say is one word -- INTERNET-- We dont see as much of that anymore because companies have a direct link to their customer base now.So when somebody says "hey I wish so and so would make a 4wd yadda, yadda," on a forum like RCtech, or that company's chat forum(why do you think they have them??), It gets noticed. Perfect example is the slash 4x4. After the release of the slash guys were like wow, this is fun where's the 4x4?? And now here it comes!!Chat forums have turned into the best place in the world for market research in the R/C industry. We litterally TELL manufacturers what we want and how we want it now.So the manufacturers produce the product before hardly anybody gets an "inspired moment" to take the project on by themselves.Hence the innovations we used to see all the time from racers isnt really "needed" in the grand scheme of R/C evolution the way it was "needed" in the past. You still see guys like the ones involved in this thread out there,They are just few and far between compared to a few years back. There is just of much of that 'why make it when you can buy it' attitude in R/C these days as it is in everything else. Have you ever talked to a guy that says his rig is custom made, and when you look at it , there is nothing truly "custom" about it? It's just a pile of aftermarket parts.:weird: Sorry ,but if it doesnt involve, drilling, grinding, cutting, glueing, or tapping, how is it custom made? |

Heres a pic of my MM buggy in disguise as an x-6^2. Body fits really nice. Also,it's hard to see in this pic, but the buggy is running a g-10 shocktower in the rear end that boxes the rear end nicely for a solid rear end.Tower runs from 2 bolts in the rear hinge pin mount at the bottom, and uses 3 bolts in the bulkhead.Still uses the stock wingmount system/location.
Figured I would take the op to test this out while racing the buggy at proving grounds Northern nationals race this weekend. |
Very nice:nod:Cant wait to get my hands on one.Very good stuff sir!

2MOD: i agree with on the custom thing. i hate it when people say they have a custom vehicle and it is just after market stuff.
|
I finished my bottom deck on my truck now i have to work on electronics configuration and the top deck design.
I agree with the custom thing also. If you are not measuring/cutting and using things not designed for that vehicle its not custom its just bling. |

I'm probably going to get my chassis cut out this weekend and I think I'll be able to use an x 6 body on it. What do you think I should call it? B-cr, xxx-b44?
Rammstein- in the picture you posted on page 14 I was wondering what brand that motor is? I know it's not a stock trinity motor. |
it is just a 17.5 trinity/epic duo motor.
|
Oh. I didn't think the stock trinity motors had red end bells

working on some simple CAD drawings for when i get my CF from 2WDMOD. i hope i will be able to share them!

here we go...just a quick simple thing, getting the ideas flowing.
|
Thats funny that design will be similar to the design on my truck.
The only difference is i will have a rear brace also similar in design with a open pocket center and a brace running off of the top of the trans to the top plate. I will leave the center of the chassis un reinforced by the top deck to let the chassis flex some. Hope my idea works. |
i was going run a brace made of delrin from the tranny to the forward top plate. so there is still a bit of flex.
