Because Jconcepts doesn't know how to size a screw in a hex adapter . . . grrrr

I have the clamp on hex adapters and they work great. No issues. I've been reading about how the hex eats wheel bearing. Dont overtighten the wheels. It puts too much drag on the bearings. I've been racing the SC10 since it came out and I had one bearing fail. It got carpet fuzz in it. That is my fail.

okay, so a while ago my sc10 started making noise under heavy loads, such as full throttle accelleration, and it has gotten to the point where it cannot move at all. i didnt want to use it when this noise was happening and i wasnt, but my dad is a very special sunflower and decided to keep driving it to spite my recommending to leave it alone till we check out what the sound is. ive checked the gear meshing between the motor and gearbox, and thats not the problem. it sounds like the diff in my opinion, i do have a few videos that i may upload tonight if you guys think its nessasary. any advice on what to do?

Okay, so here is the problem and solution to the RS front axle c-clip. I bought a brand new FT SC10 about 4 months ago, and I put the RS hex conversion on the truck as I built it. About a month into running the truck, the right side c-clip did the "unclip slightly" thing. When I discovered the right side, I was at the track on race day, so I just straitened the c-clip and put everything back together. About a month later I was going through my truck at home, and I discovered the left side c-clip had suffered the same fate. Now, I had time to figure out exactly what was going on, and figure out a way to keep it from happening again. The thing that causes the failure is that there is a large amount of radial shock force at work on that little c clip. This causes the c-clip to become coned out and that lets it move and drag on the spindle. The main thing that causes the c clip to see this force is too much side play in the axle. The ultimate solution to the problem is to put a shim on the axle before you put the inside bearing on the axle. This allows the inside bearing to share some of the force. You still need to have a little free play in the axle so you need to experiment to find a shim that takes up most of the play. I have been running my truck like this for a couple months now and everything is as smooth as when I first installed the shims. So just to recap, the install order of parts is now shim, inner bearing, then c-clip. Assemble per the instructions after that. Give me a little bit to take some pictures of my SC10 so you guys can see all of my little mods, including this one.

Thats why there is a thread for the SC10! I know it may be 5000 pages long but you have made a commitment to do a little research when you bought the SC10.

Try reading through massive threads like the Ten-SCTE! I have and it was quite informative! Take the time and read it, you may learn a bit about the truck instead of demanding instant gratification. Thats the way this board is ran, soon this thread will be closed and will dissappear...

What to do? Take the tranny apart and see what the problem is, I would bet a diff or an idler.

It's called do your own research

No point to have someone do all the work for you? Want someone to come fix it also? tune it? drive it pay for it?

If you would do a little searching around you will find the idler gears are a weak point in the tranny. If you have a have a gear diff. a lot of clicking noise comes from that when it is time for a rebuild

Think about it
It won't move. so where would be a good area to start looking? the tranny.
locked up wheel bearing? broken axle? You have noise coming from the tranny area. You think it is the diff. so why haven't you taken it apart and looked at it yet?

Quoted for truth!!! If your having an issue take the rear end apart! Since you said your dad drove the car i'm assuming your a younger kid, which is fine. But you gotta get your hands dirty or if your to young to even really work on it then your dad should do it for you. It is inevitable that you will have to take the truck apart at some point, might as well doit now!

Should be part of normal maintenance anyway; tearing the truck apart and finding issues before they become problems

People are "technical" enough to find this thread and post questions on it but dont have the mechanical ability to do some minor troubleshooting first??????? Come on guys this is a real remote and a real car not a video game.

my guess is that you somehow stripped the idler gear. take it a part, and post pix, so we can see who guessed right!
