How would the shocks from the SC10 4X4 fit on the SC10

ESC Overheating

Hey guys, so I finished building the FT SC10 and took it for its first run just on on concrete in front of my house. It was about 68 degrees and the ESC overheated after about 6 min. I am running the havok Pro SC with a ballistic 17.5. Stock gearing at 28/74. Is it possible that my lipo is bad? It is a couple years old now. It is a dynamite 5300 25C. Is this too much for this esc/motor combo? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

gearing sounds a little high to me. I broke a good 17.5 with 25/75.
gear it down a little and check for binding.

Okay, I have a 26 pinion that I will put on and see what happens. Thank you for the help. No binding issues that I can detect, everything turns smoothly.

Thats not high gearing at all. Your 25/75 would be good for a small tight track or maybe indoors.

AE recommends 28/75 gearing for a 17.5. I have a Tekin RS Pro/ 17.5 combo and I find myself running 26, 27 or 28/75 most of the time.

I'm not familiar with that ESC's setup but you didn't say if you're running boost/esc timing or not. If you're running any boost, you will need to be even smaller on the pinion than what's already been posted.

W/o boost on a 17.5, I run 24/75 on a small indoor track and 26/75 on one with a 100ft straight.

Also, bookmark this page as a great source for starting gear ratios: http://www.comeseethis.com/gearing/Default.aspx

I run 23/78 on a tight indoor carpet track during the winter with a 13.5 and temps around 140*. I ran on a 1/8th scale 200'x140' track when I blew the 17.5 geared as u recomended. makes some sence

spacer between o-rings!

One thing to check on the rtr shocks is the spacer tube that goes between the o rings. if that spacer is too long it will squeeze the oring causing premature leakage. In my first SC10 kit, 3 out 4 tubes were too long. I trimmed them down just alittle and no leakage. Use the AE green slime to assembly the seal assembly. I love the bladder caps. help to keep the air out. the shock profile doesnt change as much with use.

Check this about the debate over bladder shocks vs Emulsion Shock

http://www.rctech.net/forum/electric...er-shocks.html

what length should the spacer be?

The AE FT kit ball diff.

MarkA 06-05-2011 06:21 PM

Has anyone out there ran the AE #1585 aluminum front axles? The Associated website says they fit but they're listed as being only for the B4 so I'm concerned about durability on the SC10.

Also, for those of you running the RPM front shock tower, does it actually have less flex than the stock one?

Any input is appreciated - thanks!
