Start with 14T. You'll have more than enough grunt to clear any jump. That's the ESC/BL combo that I use on my 9E. It's very fast and very smooooth...

Ok, I did have that issue when I used the 14T pinion. You have to grind the motor heatsink to clear the rear diff outdrive. No biggie, just be careful to take your time and take off only what's needed. Make sure you're happy with the motor orientation you're using so you won't grind another spot again.

I was playing with gearing sunday and wasn't watching the outdrive spacing and tried a 13T. Now I have a nice self clearanced motor and a shinny outdrive.

ballistic: LOL! That's good to hear! Now you can have a wide range of gearing to play with.

I have to chime in here. In any 8th E car I wouldnt suggest the current option from novak. Its old and any day will be replaced. BOB novak came on the novak thread a few months ago and said they are working on a new ESC and some lower KV motors that are more up to 8th scale racing. See guys dont realize what the HV system was made for, it was made for E-maxxes. Whoch is a whole nother ballgame than 8th truggy and buggy. But if you insist you have to go with the HV Pro esc "get a fan" and the 7.5HV motor "get a fan" and get the 14mm updated rotor and install it 1st thing. And you will want to run 4S and you will have to get an external BEC unless you run 2 2s packs. Sorry as I like Novak too. For 10th scale stuff, for now.

I will suggest the MMpro and a Tekin, or Speed passion V2 motor. These motor are sensored to take advantage of the full potential of the PRO's sensor. If your used to novak you are going to want to use sensor based stuff. Or you can get a Xerun 80 or 150 amp esc with the same motors, and of course Tekin also makes a esc that is sensored for 8th scale. The Xerun is cheapest then the MMpro than the Tekin is the most $, if that matters. The Tekin motors are $150-ish and the SP motors are $100-ish. Sorry 9E guys didnt mean to jump on your thread, I look sometimes cause I like the car.

Use this calculator too:

http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html

initially gear for 40 mph and go from there. From what I can tell using the calculator and 4.5in tire diameter at 14.8V, should be right around 39mph . You can depower the motor a bit too in setup as well if needed.

Hi Ambo,

Nice work on the motor mount mate.

Would you consider pricing one up and shipping to Australia?

I've sent a PM.

Cheers.

Finished the re-build, ready for this years racing.
Running V2 front and rear arms etc, MMM speedy and modified E-revo MMM mount, CC 2650 motor, 14/40 gearing, 3c 5000mah 40c Thunderpower 40c Lipo, giving me 16 minute runtime under race conditions.
