They're bulky and heavy and I don't see the point in having electric versions of them, why not just run 10th buggies which have been developped for years and years and are very much optimised?

Then why not 1/5th or 1/18th, etc? 1/10th is a nice size for being able to cram in all the stuff, and it still fits on a lot of indoor tracks well. I am an oldie, so I still think of 1/10th 2WD as a core value. A 1/10th 4WD goes along well for sharing tires, rims, and electronics goods.

I do think they are ugly, tires are more expensive, most of the cars run 3 or 4 cell lipos which are 125-200bucks a pop, and I already have several 2S lipos. It would be a HUGE investment for me. I think it would accually be cheaper for me to go nitro.

I don't see the ugly opinion due to the fact the 1/10 4wd are just as ugly.

I see the legit comments are the cost difference, having tires that swap with 2wd buggy, and having the batteries (even though you can use the same batteries in 1/8, you just need two of them for a 4S setup).

But, as far as technology and handling you cannot compare an 1/8 buggy to a 1/10 buggy and say the 1/8 buggy doesn't handle as well. It's far superior in handling at majority of tracks. In a small indoor track the 1/10 would be advantageous though. It depends on the particular tracks you race at.

The one thing I'm suprised wasn't said right away is that 1/8 buggy can tear up tracks more making it more difficult for 1/10 buggies.

Warpig, I think you hit the nail on the head! For A LOT of the older guys that have been around RC for awhile (myself about 15 years) Don't like 1/8 because they put a bad taste in our mouth's when they used to tear up our tracks. There was a reason that 1/8 used to run AFTER 1/10 electric.

Oh yeah BTW I'm not trying to start a 1/10-1/8 war!

This is completely off topic... The original post is about a new Losi 4wd 1/10 th buggy. Which if (and I say IF!!!) it happens, would be a great addition to all the choices already out there! I'm no longer a Losi fan (used to be in the late 80s), but a new 4wd would be great from them if they do it right!

Cheers!

Losi still has some good dirvers working for them, that really adds to thier R&D. I think if, and when they come out with a new race car 2wd, or 4wd it's going to be a top notch performer for sure.

They are probably working on a competitor for the SC10 from XXX-T parts to compete in the new tentative ROAR class that was just announced on the 16th.

Sorry to go off topic. I guess I felt it was relevant because 1/8 brushless is just a larger scale 4wd with a better concept.

IMO I think Losi should design their next 1/10 4wd off of the 1/8 buggy. It would have 3 diffs and a very forgiving platform for high speed sweepers and bumps. I've thought this for about 5 years. I hated my xxx4 because the chassis grabbed everything and slowed the car down. I always preferred my 2wd buggy due to the fact it jumped more gracefully and could handle bumps and high speed sweepers.

Well they already have the "Desert Truck" Which I think is a joke, and it's ugly IMO. Do you think they are going to make another truck, or revise the dersert truck to comply with the ROAR rules?

I guess I'm getting off topic again. So common LOSI WE NEED A NEW 4WD FROM YOU!

I did create a new thread to discuss 1/10 vs. 1/8 electric 4wd... if you care to comment on this discussion go there.

I think they might just drop the desert truck, and build something else. The new class requires a longer wider wheelbase, and a full body covering the tires from the top. That pretty much eliminates the need for that plastic cage and LED lights.

On the Losi 4WD....it will still be a single belt drive, but the stick Lipo will load in from the bottom of the chassis too keep the weight centered.
