Yes, I know a few guys that run a tiny 800mah Lipo pack.

I have the same setup.
When I plug my battery in I have steering, I then turn the switch on and I have power to the ESC & motor.
You can leave the switch on all the time.[/QUOTE]

My switch doesn't do anything? If take the BEC out, I get no power to the esc even with all three wires in the plug to the receiver. With the BEC in, I always have power to the ESC and the switch does nothing??? I have emailed Castle's tech people to see what is going on. I'm wondering if the switch is bad?

Im planning on running the mmp on 4s with a sensored Tekin 2050.

I already have a CC BEC. when I solder up and use the BEC I know that I have to pull the middel red wire - but do I also have to shut off the internal BEC witht he castle link. Ive tried to do that already and it would only let me go down to 5 volts - I couldnt shut it off completely

Just pull the red wire from the speed
control connector to the receiver. You will not be using the internal bec from the speed control so it doesn't matter what you set the voltage at.

It might be just a bad switch, cut the two wires that go to the switch and solder then together, see if that works.

Has anyone had problems with there esc shutting off? Mine shuts off sometimes. I think it is because the switch wasn't secured to the chassis. It also is very sensitive.

Can I plug a lipo rx pack directly into my Futaba 2.4 (R603fs) receiver and then plug a hitec high voltage servo into the same rx (7940) to be exact

can the rx handle the 8+ volts

I plan to run this with a mamba max pro and use the pack to eliminate the need for a BEC all together

I am almost positive Futaba radio equipement cannot use a Lipo pack (without a regulator) for reciever power. You will cook the servos and the reciever! Call Towerhobbies, they are the importer for Futaba equipment.

Yup, bad switch. Took it out of the picture and all systems work as designed. I usually take my switches off anyway.

Thanks

Brushless and Lipo would be the best motor and battery combo.

Yer gonna have to be more specific about what its going into and what you are planning to use it for to get a better answer than that.

just put this esc in my Hot Bodies VE8(1/8 electric buggy) and im very impressed by this little dude. in fact i like it alot more then my mamba monster max that is now out of service and awaiting a replacment case with fan. i am not using the external BEC and not having any problems with the transponder or servo. but im not using mechanical brakes on mine so thats why. very nice job Castle on the Mamba Max Pro however im a little disappointed in the Mamba Monster Max but im using that as my back up for now til i convert a D8T

Nope. You need a regulator to use a rx lipo for the receiver. It's only rated for 6V and will not supply HV servos at full 7.2V speed.

Just get a BEC and grab 7.2V directly from your single battery to the HV servos. Get your servo signal only from the RX. Power your RX from the MMP's internal BEC at 5.5-6V.

In this 3 voltage config the MMP is powering your receiver for signal only at 5.5V and the motor at your pack voltage. The battery is providing 7.2V through a BEC directly to your servos +/- wires.

Thankyou so much for the help - I think Im gonna try this.

I just put the mmp with a tekin 2050 in my tekno mbx6. Im running sensored with %60 punch control 0 timing and 0 drag brake. The car feels absolutely amazing. If this setup proves to be durable enough ill never go back to sensoless again - havnt hit a track yet though(fingers crossed). I shoogooed the sensor to the back of the motor for insurance

Question though - should I run it in sensored mode?

also there is a drag brake like feeling to the car when I let of the gas even though it has 0 drag brake. Its hardly noticeable at speed I really only feel it when the car is driving around very slowly. I couldnt find any drag in the system.

Is this just a part of running in sensored mode?
