You can only do it with the Hotwire

The first outdoor race of the season marked my first run with the RX8 setup. Ran at White Park in SE Michigan with a bunch of other people, including Chris Peterson (Krio). Big track, not sure the dimensions, but big enough to open it up. As is the tradition here in SE Michigan, I ran mine without a fan. I ran the 1900kV setup on a 5s 4400 pack. After the 5 minute qualifiers, the motor and controller were at 130. After the 10 minute main (which was a great battle between me and Chris) they were both at 140. The controller was showing 3 LEDs. I also have my EPA turned down to about 80%. Traction wasn't all that great and the 5s/1900 kV setup has a ton of power. Overall, I'm impressed so far, and I'll run it as much as I can this summer to see how it holds up.

looking at the screen shot, where do you go to set a custom LVC? I run 12.8 - 13.2 at times, so I would want to continue to do this.

anyone mount this up on an RC Monster RC8 conversion? Is the Tekin ESC small enough that you can put the RX8 on the chassis and not use the over the diff mounting setup?

You just hit the up arrow or slide the slider as high as it will go then there will be little arrows on the right side of the number and you just hit the up arrow until it gets to the desired voltage cutoff.

If it's not possible it might be a good option to include in a future firmware upgrade. (hint..hint...)

Thanks

No, there's not, but that would certainly be cool. I would bet that as lipo gets deeper and deeper market penetration we'll start seeing features like this.

Does the new hotwire software support a LVC for 6s now? My old hotwire did not support a high enough cutoff for 6s.

The preset goes up to 6S, but if you manually set the custom it only goes up to 17.90V.

You guys keep saying to download the new software to get the higher custom cut off but I got a copy (197) from the Tekin guys last week. The one posted on the website has a revision date of 5/07/08. When will the new version be posted on Tekins hotwire download page. Anyone??

I had the old verion (197) until I emailed Randy and he sent me the latest and greatest. I'm still waiting for my Rx8 so I haven't tried the newest version.

Most of the people with the new version had to get one emailed from Tekin.

Be aware that if you pick a pack size (4S,5S,6S etc) for the cutoff voltage, it's only 3.0 volts per cell. That's WAY too low. Most people & companies recomend 3.2 minimum & I normally use 3.4 or 3.5 per cell. If you have a version that allows you to set the custome cutoff above 18 volts I would like to know what version that is because the version I got e-mailed is 197 and it DOES NOT go above 17.9 V on the custom cutoff. TEKIN are you out there?

Version 198 for the Rx8 has a higher max custom voltage cutoff.

We removed the new software from the website because it had a small bug for the 1S checkbox in the RS. All the Rx8 stuff is fine and we can send it to anyone that needs 198. We just do not want this version spread everywhere so we can fix it first. We will have it posted correctly next week.
