What vehicle are you running?

Not sure on gearing but you can run some timing with that motor, just keep the motor temp at or below 160°.

Most of the setup sheets are about what you want to run.
Set push to whatever floats tour boat.
Current limit from 70 to 100 depending on how much traction you have at your track.
In hotwire you can right click (or hover or something) on the slider to find out what the different adjustments do.

Need more info for anyone to help you with setup suggestions though.

Brad those are actual downloadable entire setup files. The Pdf's have yet to be uploaded.

You can "load profile" those right into your esc, hit "apply settings" and done!

Yes, you can also setup a custom lvc by pulling the adjustment bar all the way up to custom and set for the total voltage that you want... like 6.8v or 7v for a 2 cell pack. Its not per cell.
IMO the standard lvc's are set too low on all escs.

Hi, I have a few questions about setting up my 1/8 E buggy. I'm a nitro guy and am not used to this. I have a Tekno EB48. Geared 44/17. RX8 Esc and T8 2050 motor. Can I physically adjust the timing on the can? If so, what can I use for reference marks on how much timing it has? I don't see any timing marks. If not, then I just adjust it using the hotwire? I have the timing currently set at 1 on hotwire. I'm thinking about bumping it up to 2

Thanks

The T8 motor can isn't adjustable for timing. You can change the timing in the esc. TP2 is fine on the 2050 but you really shouldn't need it.

Are you looking for more bottom or top end?

4s right?

Randy, Thanks for the quick answer. I'm looking for a bit more top end. Yes, 4s. I had the current limiter at 92 and went up to 95. I'm not sure if that will give me the extra top end or not.

Thanks

No not really. If your motor temps were in the 170 or lower range after 10 minutes you can try gearing up a bit. Where are you racing this car?

Default Rx8 problems

Hi guys - got a problem that I think (?) is with my RX8 (Though I have a suspicion it might be the tekin 1700kv motor)

Basically, I was driving on the weekend, and the car start to cut out.

After a few seconds, or sometime switching it off and on, it would run again - for anywhere between 3 and 30 seconds.

I checked the battery (4s 5000mah 40c) and it still had 4v on all 4 cells (Cut-off was set to 12v(3v each cells) on the RX8)

I took it home, and yesterday tried to get it going with the electronics etc. out of the buggy. This is where I'm at:

I found that pretty much every time you hit full throttle, it would cut out - to begin with, it would show LED's 1 3 and 5.

N.B. This is with no load on the motor, and a cold ESC.

I read the manual for the speedy, and ended up;
1) Checking the solder joints were OK on the 5 posts on the speedy
2) checking the reciever lead was OK
3) Re-Calibrating the radio to the speedy (After resetting trims and EPA's to 0 and Max respectively

At this point, the RX8 will show either LED's 1 3 and 5, or otherwise LED's 5 6 and 7. (About 50/50 as to which of the two sets it shows.)

At this point, sometimes if I leave the trigger alone for a couple of seconds, it will go again (and then only for a split second (sometimes) before cutting out) - other times, I have to turn the ESC off and on - sometimes even that doesn't clear the LED's.

P.S. the latest testing has been done with 4 different LIPO's fully charged and tested for voltage across the 4 cells, and a fresh set of batteries in the transmitter.

I don't have a spare speedy or motor, so I can't readily test them separately to troubleshoot this (And I'd rather not have to spend $300 buying both to figure it out.)

Any input or opinions on this would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!

I'll check the temps and go from there. Its a medium sized track with about a 175ft straight. I went up to TP2 and did a quick test run, that seems to be the top end I was looking for. Next race is Sunday.

Thanks again

With the unit turned on, press and hold both buttons on the esc for approx. 5 seconds until the Led's begin to cycle. Release when you see the Led's.
