Runtime and temps are dependent on many different factors (driving style, outdoor temps, etc.) and you will need to test your set-up to see how it does. Immediately check temps on your motor/battery/esc after a short session at the track. Drive hard in five minute intervals for the tests and if everything seems within limits, go for ten minutes and so on. After you see that the heat isn't an issue, charge up a pack and see what runtime you get before you hit voltage cut-off (I recommend you set your ESC for "auto-LiPo" at 3.2v per cell). Again, drive hard and make sure you have a marshal to turn you back over quickly, for real race condition testing.

what kind of run times do you get on that setup?

"Is your track HUGE? Because that will be a very fast set-up. Not too fast for some tracks/drivers, but you might consider getting a 4S pack to try as a tuning aid for smaller tracks or to test against your lap times form the 5S battery. Also you may want to get an assortment of other smaller clutch springs. Other than that, your set-up looks "spot on". "

the norm runtime is about 15-17 min so no matter what you will have to make a battery change. teeforb gets i think about 16-17min of runtime. try to find the biggest 5s battery mah wise like a 6000mah 5s. like i said you will need to make a battery change no matter what setup you go and especially because you are running on a big track..

that should work out perfect. 15-17 and a battery change would equal out to 8-9 minute pit stops, if my pit guy can get a battery back in that quick. hoping in the near future our track will have enough guys running electric to support it's own class.

Did you try cleaning the clutch adapter real good with motor spray? I suggest cleaning the entire thing, including inside the shaft hole with a q-tip or something. Because oil that might reside inside there from packaging could still be spinning it's way out and in to the threads of the set screw. This was my problem, but after the thorough cleaning, I never have a problem.

Do a couple of test pit stop/battery changes and you will see that even with velcro on the sides of the body (to quickly rip it off), that it's still about 30sec - 1min for the pit. Not comparable to the nitros (about 15sec max for 3 pit stops), but still worth competing to gain experience. You will just need to make sure to gain a good lead on your competition.

Did you use a brand new set screw? The cup point ends on the set screws flatten after tightening them a few times and they can't 'grab' anymore. I think this could help.

Do you have a hex wrench and not an "L" shaped hex? With a good hex wrench, you can torque the set-screw down well.

Besides trying what Tekno RC said and replacing the set-screw, you can also try red thread-loc. You will have a hard time getting the screw loose though and will probably need to heat it up to loosen it.

with my buggy and 1900kv, i havn't fully tested to see how long i will get. i think i am doing around 210 to 220 mah/min. that's pretty efficient. it will be very difficult to fit a 5S 6000mah battery into a buggy. 5000mah MAYBE, but 6000 i think will be impossible.

The Tekin motor is a clone of the Neu 1512/2.5D. The insides are similar. Tekin is made in China. Neu is made in USA. The Neu's are the best, but they cost more. You can't go wrong with either one.
