Can anyone give a reason as to why not too many of the top guys run the p2 body? What is different as far as handling characteristics compared to the f2 or s2?

Also why did the yokomo guys switch back to the s1 body for the yz4? Does it give more rear end grip do to the panels in the back that swoop up?

S1 on the YZ4 was to give it a distinct look. At least that's what Ryan said when asked. I haven't tried anything other than the F2 on it but I will be trying the S1 too.

Guess I’ll have to paint up the stock yz4 sf body and try out the body. I never ran it because I prefer the looks of the f2 body

On a track with many 180s, you need a very agile car. Whereas the S2 gives your car a very reactive feel (carpet). the P2 excels on flowing high-speed tracks or when the grip is low. The F2 is a great all-rounder, and I am sure the new P2K (#0389 for B6.1) will be similar, but with increased stability on the straights and over the jumps.
Maybe we can get something similar for stadium trucks? The stadium truck F2 is great on tight tracks, but I preferred the feel of another manufacturer on my YZ-2T outsides on astroturf. I'd be happy to buy another JConcepts body for my truck, but if there is nothing on the horizon late in March/early in April, I won't be able to hold my breath any longer.
By the way, great job Paul and the guys, you nailed the looks with the P2K! Please convince HB Racing to make it the D219 kit body and I'll take two of them.

p.s.: Sorry I cannot comment on the S1, but the original Silencer bodies had neutral handling characteristics and in my book relatively little downforce and drag.

Has JConcepts ever performed wind tunnel testing on their off road bodies?

Maybe they use simulation software similar to the one shown on Zoo-Racing's website?

CFD would help development. It’s expensive.

PW,

Is there any plans for a silencer body for the RC8B3.1E? Will the Nitro body fit?

No wind tunnel testing; we just base most of it off feedback from certain drivers and then of course 30+ years of experience. That said, former World Champion Steven Hartson's dad works for Boeing and he had some buggies tested. The engineers said that the front shock tower, front suspension parts, etc create so much dirty air, that the windshield, cab area does very little. The side-pods can have some effect, but I personally think most of the "perceived feel" is in our minds based on the way the car looks going around the track (short, long, tall, low, etc). If you think about it, it's all perceived feel since we aren't in or attached to the car, so that really is the most important thing

The nitro body fits with most of the newer style slimmer LiPos, but will hit on some of the older big LiPos.

Some little birdy told me that RC Kleinkram no longer is the German JConcepts distributor. Is there a new distributor yet?

Any news? Hopefully the new distributor will be announced soon and is fast enough to submit our beloved stadium truck Swaggers and Pindowns for registration on the DMC's tire homologation list. Otherwise we are doooooooomed! There are a few alternatives for rear tires depending on the type of astroturf, but when it comes to front tires... Did I mention that ST swaggers are sold out everywhere and I was happy to source two pairs from Finland

Here is the distributor's response regarding your question: "I already have taken care of it in January. But I can contact the DMC again if everything was okay. But the deadline is end of January for it and they received all information and tires in time. We already received a provisional homologation list on February 10th".
