I love my evader ST, it was my first hobby RC and the first day I had it, my friend drove it straight into my dad's Astro van and ripped off the whole front left wheel, arm, and other misc. parts sticking out....

but that was several years ago, and i am still paranoid about letting my friends drive my cars (even the unbreakable brushed e-revo, lol). my evader's only upgrades are a stock pinion gear from a bandit (idk the tooth count.... i'll check later), metal gear steering servo, and 19T brushed motor. the only thing i have to complain about the truck is the turning radius.... i cant count how many times i crashed into track barriers because i couldnt turn sharp enough.

How can i increase the turning radius? or do i just need to learn to overcome that?

An all new servo with a longer pivot-arm would do it... Not sure what servo's are compatible that would do this.. 9 out of 19 times I would just break the ass end loose and slide through the corners.. Just me tho haha...

Ran the _____ out of my EXT2 with the new motor & ESC... Shot it with the temp gun several times and 164 deg F was the hottest it got... Got 147 several times, and in the 130's as well... Is that 164 too hot? Borderline? Or too hot???

And sorry forgot... Associated LRP A.I. ESC (rated down to a 13t motor).. And a Reedy Radon 17t motor... Temps were motor temps... ESC never even got warm to the touch... Bout 60 degrees outside...

Brush motor after a 5 minute race should never be over 170.

Works for bashing also, to much heat is never good.

When I was racing brush motors I looked for 160 max.

Topped it out around 200 Deg-F today... Hottest it's gotten... I was really pushin it hard... Let it cool off and ran another pack through it.. Still runnin strong... Temps usually range around 130-160 unless I really get down on it! Might drop to an 18t pinion to cool it down a bit... Unfortunately I'll lose a little bit of top end... Might try my 15t ARRMA motor with the 18t pinion to see if that is a happy medium...

Which Radon 17t motor do you have? The bushed or ball bearing?

Reason for asking is the bushed has a history of melting the end bell where the bushing is from lack of lube. If you have a bushed motor a drop of oil every time you run will go a long way to keep the motor working right.

FYI

If it's bushed and you have had the bushing melt the end bell AND you have a ball bearing motor the armature is bad. Put the Radon 17t armature in the ball bearing motor, make a sweet Mod 17x2 motor!!! Did this for a few guys when the SC10 first came out and they where about 10/15 foot faster (110 foot straight with same gearing) than the bushing racers.

On that note.... Where exactly are you guys shootin the temps at?? I aim it right at the end of the motor (close to shaft). If I shoot the can itself it's always in the 130's...

Not turning tight enough could be to much rear traction. If you have the right tires for the track, move the battery forward if you haven't already, loosen the slipper, or move the rear shock at the top out a hole or two.

I did this to get a ST to turn a few years ago. Learned this from Losi XXXT and Associated T4.
Part # DTXC8226 Front Knuckle Arm. Remove .060 from top of arms where the ball pin go's through, put two .030 washers (Associated part# 4187) under the steering arm this will raise the axle and lower the front of ST for better turning. Adjust to one on top and one on bottom if needed for your track.

Check at Losi.com for xxt race setups as a start.

What Dhthmn114 is doing works also depending on track surface.

I shoot the armature as it comes out of the bearing close to the brushes.

Alright... I took a measurement from there today after running it absolutely nuts for about 10 minutes!!! 207 Deg-F!!!! Super hot!!! ESC measured 101... And the batter was like 97... But I was really raggin on it! Might try the 18t pinion to cool things down... Before today my hottest temps were in the 160's.. But mostly between 130-150... Wasn't expecting such a drastic temp change!!!

Reason I ask /\... I thought it might look "interesting" to swap DT wheels/tires onto my EXT2... Assuming they will swap out directly... Debating a purchase of the Evader DT just as a basher!! Might set it up similar to my EXT2 as far as ESC & motor are concerned... But they look like neat little trucks!!!
