And those two brands while ride good and build is of good quality... they are overpriced considering the other brands. just my 2 cents.

BTW. For been a newly released car, the support from tekno and after market has been awesome for the eb410. Car has a bright future.

If I only have $550 to spend given that I already have electronics, wheels/tires, paint, etc... I can either pick an eb410, b64d, d413 or a tlr and have enough to buy spare parts and race the next day. You cannot do that with either kyosho, xray or yokomo. The amount of carbon or bling goes out of the window when compared performance out of the box between the mentioned kits. They all perform really good out of the box and the extra stuff is non necessary. That is apples to apples. How does it perform out of he box vs cost. Remember that the OP doesn't race for rc America and doesn't get a discount. Another comparison is the Hudy brand tools..... compare a set of those vs a set of MIP. Is all eye candy, that's all it is.
You're initial quote only was talking about the cost of the kit which as I explained I doesn't think is a fair comparison considering the added value given out of the box with the XB4.

You then changed your point to the starting cost of a complete kit which it totally valid. Yes, you can get some of the other cars RTR for cheaper, no argument from me there.

That's what I was trying to explain. The total cost from beginning to end. I am not attacking any brand in particular as they are all very good. Me, I appreciate Tekno's support for our military giving us a discount and that's why I went straight to tekno. (Im not a baller lol) But there's guys out there that don't get any discount. That's why I consider the initial cost plus the cost of maintenance. Because when I order a kit I usually order common parts like a set of arms, hubs towers, etc...

Carbon is stiffer and usually lighter.

Without them the techno seems to strip spur gears easy. Plus it looks a million times less cheesy.

Most often, if used as an aftermarket upgrade, it's usually to replace a deficient molded part. People like "bling", too.

Slab 3k carbon isn't really "tech", it's just an easy way to make light, strong flat-parts. The AE B4 dominated 2wd racing for a decade with molded plastic shock towers..

Couldn't be happier with my D413 (well, maybe easier diff access). Got it used to get back into the hobby and love it! I purchased the Exotek '17 chassis to give it some new life, and it certainly helped out in a couple areas. That said, I'm in the market for a new buggy (just cause I want something new!). I was considering the EB410 as well, and local track stocking parts. Many drivers in the wheeler class have one. However, I'm waiting for the D418. I have yet to DNF a race at my local track, often allowing me to finish higher than I should with the Tekno or AE guys breaking parts...

I could compare myself with another EB410 driver and tell you all the stuff he's broken yet I've broken 1 arm and 1 rear hub going back to the 16 model.
Excactly, with regular maintenance, the XRAY car is cheaper in the long run, less need for spare parts. I have one, and have hit things with it that would sheer off the front end of any other buggy and it drove away unscathed. Granted I don't crash often. I broke so many arms on the B64D barely hitting stuff, got expensive quick..

oh boy... just have to add my .02. I've had a ton of different cars. i consider myself a good not great driver. ok maybe a fair driver. I play more then race (at a track). anyway, ive had a xb4 16 since 16. and ive broke NOTHING! Look at my user name. its obvious i like associated cars. they are a great value, easy to set up, easy to get parts for and usually easy to build. ive had everything in between All that said, dont ever question the cost or quality of an xray. if your one to break a lot of parts my first recommendation would be to slow down. my second would be to try a more durable kit, might make a difference

HB D418 is best now. Best handling on high grip tracks.
