I don't expect any sympathy, but most weeks (like this one) I don't even get time to work on my sedan. At this point, I have to pick my battles, and resign myself to being pretty good at one class rather than average at two or three.

New babies are a lot of work, especially when they start daycare like ours did today.

Cross- I have thought of that but was afraid to try it. The pipes seem to be pretty brittle on the ends as they get more and more holes in them from screwing the wood blocks, also, the stuff is pretty brittle, I'm not real sure if the stress from putting a slight bend in them wound not just break it.

Guys to be honest I don't care if we use dots or boards or draw it with chalk it doesn't matter to me. I have ran with dots before and it was fine and I actually like dots.

By the way good job on the layout it is fun. Thanks to those who built it.

They're thermoplastic, they're not going to break. We can do Cory's method of cutting pie shapes out of the tube, bending (torch may help the plastic flow), and then epoxying them or pastic welding them back together. As another approach, I stole a 3' section of tube from the track and am going to make a jig at home and see if I can bend it. I am semi-confident they can be bent with heat and a good jig.

Ive always thought a jig and a torch or heat guns would work. I heat-form dash kits and ABS all the time at work. The pipe is a similar plastic. the trick is even heating to bend it. It may be a couple of heat sources over the radius area.

if we did the cut section pipe. i think a piece of our plastic (on the inside) would hold it in shape.

i know that you can bend the square tubing, that is how click track is made.

The commercial sales guy at the FC store was quite cool and gave me a discount. It will be here in about 2 weeks. If the Club would like some new tubing let me know asap, I'll tack it onto the ePlex order so we get it at the same price. We have to buy in 6 stick bundles.

I don't mind fronting the money but I can't afford to be the sole contributor.
Any comments on buying more tubing?

What is the size of CRC ClickTrack?

How much do the prefab CRC ClickTrack Connector pieces cost?

If Sam can bend the PVC, then we can make the rest ourselves, we just need some Snap Buttons of the right size.

I like the direction this is going. With all these engineers, we should be able to make our own pipe system that "clicks" into place. If it's good enough, we could sell it to other tracks at a competitive price and make a few bucks for the club for rent and carpet.

Sam - filling PVC pipe with sand helps prevent kinking when bending. I've never tried it with square PVC, but it's worth a try before spending the time to build jigs. I'd fill with sand and then just clamp a piece of plywood on top and bottom to prevent bulge. The sand does absorb a lot of heat, so it takes longer - need to be patient with the heating.

Knowing that CRC ClickTrack is smaller than what we have now, people were still in favor of it, although the price of it was the hold up.

If people are ok with the smaller size, that makes it easier to fabricate it ourselves .. small pipe is easier to bend and the snap buttons are easier to find.

A drill press and some snap buttons are all that is required for straight sections and connector pieces.

The hang up is the corners and what it will take to bend the pipe.

Mario, can you find out what the actual dimensions are for the ClickTrack?

If it is 2" x 2" then it looks like it is $50 for 60ft from what Brent said.
