Do you guys have any noob classes or any open practice times during the week when there is not a race? I am interested in coming to check things out but I don't want to jump in a race with a bunch of really good drivers without having any practice. I haven't raced or driven a car in 10 years.

Our beginner class currently would be 17.5 Touring. As for practice there's usually people there on Tuesday, Thursday early (practice and race day), Saturday, and Sunday (practice and race day).

It's hard to say what time people arrive and close but these are some rough times that people are usually there.

Tues 5pm - 9pm
Thur 5pm - 9pm
Sat 11am - 9pm
Sun 10am - 4pm

The best way to tell if the track is open is to check our practice website to see if some is pulling laps.

Cool thanks! Foams for the 17.5 touring? Do you need blinky esc's and roar leagal packs and motors?

2s lipo packs, most name brands are roar approved.
not sure what the hotness of 17.5 motors are these days, but the trinity d4, or Reedys would be fine
Touring car foam days are gone, its rubber tires now. Thank goodness on that one, less grip, sorta, but much better wear, and easier to deal with, like ride height, roll center, etc....
Mazda speed6 or ltcr bodies.
blinky esc, or stock spec...

There are a few of us "slow occasional" racers who are laps down for all the national champions and pros in this club..

Hot motor these days is the Team Powers Actinium.

Rubber tire - we use Jaco Blues, which we sell at the track for $25/set.

blinky speedos - yes.

For our normal club racing, as long as you are using blinky and the right motor (ie, 17.5 in the 17.5 class), we are pretty chill. The only time I think we really adhere to the ROAR rules is at our big race in April - MHIC.

We also sell SXT at the track which is the only allowed tire sauce. It's $10 for a bottle and will last you a long time. I'd sauce full rear and half front tires to start. 5 minutes is usually plenty.

Wait, are you actually using a Reedy 3.5t in something? Is it a mod 12th?

Has something changed with uploading practice laps to the website while I have been MIA? A number of us were practicing last night, but I see no laps listed on the 5280raceway.com practice section... Haven't checked on the actual my laps website yet.

Just curious, not sure if there is an additional step for uploading I should be aware of.

Yeah, the Windows Task Scheduler service gets wedged and refuses to restart. Only fix seems to be rebooting the scoring machine. If there's a Microsoft Certified Nut Hugger in the crowd that wants to troubleshoot further that would be sweet.

My kingdom for proper crontab in Windows.
