When calendar flipped to Friday, all the Calgary on road racers felt excitement in their bones! All day they sat with anticipation of the evening’s competition and who will win be able to claim victory.

Carcar welcomed back (2) seasoned veterans to the fast sweeping layout. Both Benny “Maverick” Tse and Al Makizic took their cars off the show and shine shelf to see how they perform.

B Main
The B main is always one of the most exciting battles and last evening’s lineup featured The Mechanic, King Kwong, Maverick, Who Can and Blub. Who Can had the fastest lap times of his life during qualifying and was sitting on the grid with the confidence to match Fat Stack Fabio's and the skill as well. The first corner Maverick set his sights on King Kwong. Flipping the switch in his cockpit for afterburners he flew by King Kwong on the outside. In the back of the field the Bulb’s light tuned bright with a fresh new idea. “drive fast, drive smooth, maybe I can gain a position”. Trying to execute this idea against a guy with speed and confidence was not easy. After Who Can took a corner wide Bulb stole the position. However the light switch was on a timer and turned off giving the position right back. The next lap the light was back on. With over ¾ of the race complete The Mechanic had the win wrapped up… Until he forgot what he wrapped... Opening up the gift while clipping a corner and flying off the track he saw it was a gift of giving Maverick 1st place.

Finishing order:
Benny “Maverick”, John “King Kwong”, Trevor “The Mechanic”, Tim “Bulb”, Ian “Who Can”

A Main

With a wild night of (4) qualifiers filled with bumper to bumper action the starting grid of Scientist, Skid, One Lap, Cheese and The Gymnast were lined up for some action. The tone sounded and the Scientist went to work. The first corner he added a little bit of corner speed, then he added some straight line speed and soon he had the recipe for success! Behind him One Lap took advantage of a Skid Mark doing a double butt clench and stole the position. However it was not for long as ten laps later One Lap made and error then followed it up with body tuck and was dropped out of contention. At the back of the field The Gymnast tried to execute his floor routine he was working on all week, but Cheese smoother than a Velveeta waterfall and would not make passing easy. The Gymnast persisted with his acrobatics and pushed the judges to hold up a perfect score when finally slipped by Cheese. With only a few laps left in the race Scientist’s winning formula blew up when he added “tap a white corner” to the recipe. Skid didn’t need to wait for a written invitation to attend the victory party, he went anyway.

Finishing Order:
Kerry “Skid”, Dwayne “Scientist”, Walter “The Gymnast”, Sammy “Cheese”, Blaine “One Lap”

TC Mod B & A Main

It was a weird night for Mod. There were (8) guys running the class and (2) different mains. In the A Main Matt was on fire laying down fast lap after fast lap. His car was more hooked up like a slotcar track! However.. Nobody in either A or B main was able to make a pass for position as both races finished exactly as they started.

B Main Finishing Order:
Tommy , Al, Cal, John

A Main Finishing Order
Matt, Jim, Ivan, Dwayne

F1

The grid of Mr DNF, Walter, Cheese, waited for Fat Stacks Fabio to complete his call to his custom fabricators as he was discussing the improvements he wanted on his next rear wing. When the race got underway it was apparent Fat Stacks Fabio has spend hours watching racing legend Daniel Kyvatt’s signature “Torpedo” passing move. Fat Stacks Fabio had Cheese in his sights, but when he hit “Launch” Cheese slipped to the side and the the incoming Torpedo hit the boards smack on. Not to be out done the Fat Stacks Fabio reloaded his Torpedo and recalculated the trajectory. Closing in fast, again the Torpedo was tried on the field only to skim Cheese and overshoot the corner into the opposite boards. Fat Stacks Fabio is known for persistence so after recovering and receiving a scolding from teammate The Gymnast as he zoomed past Fat Stacks Fabio Turned down the suck and was able to make a CLEAN pass for the position. Out in front Mr DNF managed to pilot his vehicle around the track and finish without breaking, and The Gymnast spent most of his time writing to Lululemon trying to secure a sponsorship and custom leotards.

Finishing Order:
Cal “Mr DNF”, Walter “The Gymnast”, Ivan “Fat Stacks Fabio”, Sammy “Cheese”

Friday arrived with a flurry of activity. The drive down to the Calgary Horseshoe Club was treacherous. Accidents littered the highway with many cautious drivers going slow and Cal.

The weather meant that the turnout would be less than usual, but the racers that did show up took full advantage. With a total of (6) rounds and done before 10pm the night was filled with some door to door racing!

A MAIN TC STOCK

As the grid filled up and waited for the tone, Scatt Man sat on pole position followed by The Arrow, The Gymnast , One Lap, Maverick and Who Can. With lights out, the drivers set off at a blistering pace. Scatt Man was immediately under pressure by The Gymnast 's dive roll and tumble routine. Scatt Man watched in wonder and called up his best friend "corner dot" and dried and triple aerial maneuver. The arrow took no notice of the Olympics pre qualifying event going on around him and went straight to drawing his latest speed and skill graph, where skill and speed both increase over time and youth. One Lap kindly gave The Gymnast a copy of "Speed Secrets" as he lapped him over and over and over and over and over and over again. Maverick and Who Can had a battle of their lifetime to bring in the back of the field. Who can was sporting a new glitch free radio and was feeling confident in his speed and consistency. Maverick spent his time working the dials of his target tracking device and soon locked in on Who Can. A lap later he pulled off a inside barrel roll and flew off into the distance.

Finishing Order:
Bryce “The Arrow”, Kerry “Scatt Man”, Blaine “One Lap”, Walter “The Gymnast”, Benny “Maverick”, Ian “Who Can”

A MAIN Modified

Six drivers set their vehicles into position waiting for the green light. Speed led the pack to the first corner as The Beard, Weird, The Professor, Fat Stacks Fabio and Hobbyshop followed. Speed's tires were turning so fast that his vehicle was almost going "Back to the Future". Just before he hit the speed limit he made a slight error and The Beard slipped by. As The Beard drove lap after lap things were looking good for the win... Until his chin curtain got itchy and he scratched the wall allowing the The Professor to pass him the grade of "B". Hobbyshop was showing the beauty and sleek design of his newest build the Xay 2018. Weird and Fat Stacks Fabio were in aww and just wanted to stay behind to watch the bumper of this beauty. Weird having done an amazing job at driving all night and was battling with Fat Stacks Fabio for the bottom. This time he was able to keep his head under pressure and drop the beat on Fat Stacks Fabio. Fat Stacks Fabio worked on set up throughout the night and was successful in making it worse then it started.

Finishing Order

Jim “The Professor”, Matt “The Beard”, Tommy “Speed”, Erwin “Hobbyshop”, Al “Weird”, Ivan “Fat Stacks Fabio”

Alright fellow foam racers unite and join me this Friday night for some 12 scale action. A new track for November means new fun. Only 1 week before ATS. You should come out and get some practice. The track might look very familiar come ATS... wink wink

TC 32’s. The new black carpet sweeps are slow. The older ones are quicker.
F1 Pit Shimizu 571,572 are good

We run the same black CRC carpet as Edmonton. What ever works there will work in Calgary.

Totally Joe. You should see him, a new set of tires every round, thousands of dollars in sauce (custom blend). It is just crazy. #howdobudgetracerscompete

I’m barely making the A Mains with top of the line chassis/electronics/motor/tires and limited skillz, I gotta work on something.

Is changing droop making it look like I’m taking RC too seriously?
