OMG, OMG, OMG. Soo much action and heats that Walter and I have to split writing a single race report!

St Patricks.day racing at Carcar was nothing but an amazing evening! It had surprises and hidden gems all through the evening including six full heats of qualifying action! People of of all skill levels are showing up to drive their favorite rc vehicles around our amazing track as fast as humanly possible! The new corner dots are an excellent new feature to the track and make the corners even more challenging. Add this to the fact that the current layout is an test of all skill levels we knew the mains were going to be action packed!

Danny "Broken" Buck came from out of town to display the durability and precision of team X-rays vehicles. Ivan "Fabio" Chan (aka Mayor Fabio) was in town for a hair-styling convention at the telus convention center! Not to mention all the other's first time out in a while.. WELCOME BACK!

Mini A Main

Ivan "Fabio", Gordon "Slow is Fast", Sammy "Cheesefart", Dave Butterfly and Mark "Good Vibrations" all lined up on the straight to anxiously await the sound of the tone. When the leprechaun tone sounded these guys flew down the strait. Immediately Fabio went wide into the first corner to feel the wind blow against his mullet and live the dream of speed. However in moment of elation Slow is fast and Cheesefart both took the fast line and bumped fabio down the barber pole. Not to be out done Fabio called a town hall meeting and arranged for some road blocks to be put in place. It took until late in the game when his residents pulled out all the stops in order to help him. In the mean time Cheesefart was all over Slow is fast like a nutella sandwich. Slow is fast just could not shake him off! Finally Slow is fast blew a corner and Cheesefart used a slippery move to take over first. Later Fabio's earlier plan was executed and soon he popped into the lead position, but he was not there long since Slow is fast has also added "Clean lines" to his moto and took down Fabio like 200lbs bar bell off the top rack.

Fighting for 4th and 5th Good Vibrations and Butterfly but had it out for each other. They were on similar fast lap paces and only the slightest of errors would cause a position change. Good Vibration's mini was looking easy to drive and he was pulling of some nice lines. He made a couple of sweet inside passes on Butterfly, but it was not enough. Butterfly was more consistent and his mechanic did not fail him this week!

Finishing Order:

Slow is Fast, Fabio, Cheesefart, Butterfly, Good Vibrations.

Touring Stock B

Sammy "Cheesefart", Ken "Thriller", Trevor "The Mechanic", Tim "Bulb", John "King Kwong", Ian "Who Can", Dave "Butterfly" and Mark "Good Vibrations" were looking for a clean start in the B main. The buzzer rang and the Bee train started off! The first to make a mistake was Cheesefart clipping a corner and dropping down the order. Who Can took full advantage of this and jumped up a couple of positions by going wide around the carnage and building confidence with every turn of the wheel. King Kwong briefly saw the light of second place before he was mesmerized my the beautiful new corner dots. The Mechanic started in last because we was too slow getting to the drivers stand, but he made quick work to jump up the order. The mechanic was calculating the speed needed for passes, the risk of failure and each pass was taken clean and note worthy. Bulb was in a tight battle for fourth place until a slight miscalculation of serpent durability had him hanging his head in shame.

Butterfly was remarkable! He was driving most corners 1 foot out, so that he was safe, left room for error (and passing) and was able to run a consistent race. It looks like his vehicle is starting to suit his driving style and getting easier every week. Maybe there is something to having your own Mechanic!

Unfortunately Good Vibrations broke during warm-up and was not able to lay down any laps.

Touring Stock Eh

Danny "Broken", Josh "Superstar", Walter "Mini King", Kerry "Skidmark", Cal "Mr DNF", Ivan "Fabio", Aaron "Twinkle Toes", and Bryce "The Arrow" all made the A main in a stiff field of competition. Over the course of the night these guys were sprinkling leprechaun dust all over their vehicles hoping for a win. Quickly "Broken" decided that leading from start to finish would not be challenging enough so he dropped from lead pace to race at the back of the pack. Skidmark came into the chicane too fast and slammed on his breaks and slid to a demoralizing stop. Fabio was "trying" to stay out of trouble, but with his month long break forgot that if your have any hope of winning you have to squeeze that trigger. (Later we found out he cut his trigger finger using a new pair of scissors that he just picked up for the beauty salon). Superstar who is also usually on a fast pace was busy day dreaming about winning an Oscar instead of focusing on driving toy cars.

With these fast guys all working hard to secure last place, some sort of St Patricks day Miracle happened. Mini King and Mr DNF were in position 1 and 2 with no real challengers present! The venue was erupting with amazement, cheering and awe. Having never seen these two do so well against a hard field you could hear them sending praise to the lord, thanks to St. Patrick, and high fives to the Genie in the bottle for helping them live their dream! When it was coming down to the wire you could hear Mr DNF's thoughts "DON'T BREAK, PLEASE PLEASE DON'T BREAK" and Mini King's "I"m going to be crowned the fastest guy in Evanston". The pressure got to Mr DNF and he let Skidmark pass on the second last corner to crush his dreams

Twinkle Toes and The Arrow were also putting on a clinic on how to drive a stock car. Their cars were setup to perfection and the smiles were huge..Twinkle Toes only comes out once a season and he is faster then Superstar and Broken. What's not to smile about?

I still don't believe this race happened. I think I might have to watch Slow's video just to confirm.

Finishing Order:
Mini King, Skidmark, Mr DNF, Fabio, The Arrow, Twinkle Toes, Superstar, Broken

Touring Mod B

B main mod, yes you heard it two great heats of mod. This heat had a great field of drivers, and Cal. The line up was great with anyone able to take the win. We had Cal Mr. DNF taking the top honours, followed by Al, Mr. Smooth, Bernie The Wall, Gordon Slow is Fast, John King Kwong, and Aaron Twinkle toes. On the tone, we had Mr. DNF boost off to a bit of a lead. Mr. Smooth put on chase but promptly stuffed it a couple of corners in allowing The Wall by. The Wall thinking that looked like fun promptly stuffed his car just to find out. Mr. Smooth regained his second spot, with Twinkle Toes shaking off the rust in third. Slow is fast was putting in smooth steady laps driving in his own little world. King Kwong and the wall were now embroiled in a great battle of their own. The wall was ducking and jiving like a prize fighter. He made his move on King Kwong on the straight, trying to slow off by passing him on the outside. King Kwong laughed at the challenge and swatted the wall into an awaiting table. In the most unlikely event The Wall bounced off the table and took off again. We know drywall is The Walls kryptonite not a table. The wall had the last laugh when King Kwong suffered a mechanical failure and was out.
Up front we had Mr. DNF way out in front zigging an zagging like he was on a mission to finish a heat. Mr. Smooth was settling in for second and driving a great race. Twinkle Toes was coming up on slow is Fast and promptly hit him putting them both off the track. We can only assume that Twinkle Toes was missing his Peter Pan get away shoes and his pixie dust finally wore off. This mistake allowed The Wall back into third where he would finish. Slow is Fast drove smooth and steady to bring his car home fourth, with Twinkle Toes a close fifth. Out front no one could muster a challenge to catch Mr. DNF. There was a bit of drama on the last lap where Mr. Smooth thought he was done and parked the car to only be informed he wasn’t, luckily, he was a lap ahead and still brought home second.

Results: Mr. DNF. Mr. Smooth, The Wall, Slow is Fast, Twinkle Toes, and King Kwong

Touring Mod Eh

What a stellar field of driver’s we had, from regulars, to out of towners, returnees. In the top position, we had Danny The Foreigner, Jim Setup Master, Josh Superstar, Tommy Speed, Amain Shane, Erwin Hobby Shop, and Ivan Fabio. On the tone, we had The Foreigner rocket off the line, driving amazing steady lines closely followed by Setup Master and the Superstar. Amain buckled under the pressure and made a mistake which dropped him into the grips of Fabio with his old tires and the month worth of soaking in sauce. That battle was shaping up to be epic, and it was only for last position. Up front Speed was in hot pursuit from his fourth place. He quickly welcomed back the Superstar and dispatched him. Speed set his sites on the Setup Master. Over the past few weeks these two have had amazing battles. Speed followed and tried to get by several times but to no avail. Setup master just made a slight mistake and Speed was by and gone in a blink of the eye. All the while Superstar, Hobby Shop, Amain, and Fabio were battling. Fabio just didn’t have his magic touch, we can only assume the month and thousands of dollars in sauce just weren’t enough, but he put in a valiant effort and could only get close to Amain but couldn’t get by. Amain, even in his advanced years, was able to put in fast consistent lap times but never really could get close enough to the Superstar. Superstar, after a long hiatus, appears to have lost nothing. His speed was amazing and the lines were crisp, we must assume that his black car blended into the carpet and just circulated stealthy.

It was at this midway in the race when the Hobby shop thought he had enough of the battling with all these drivers, and kicked it into high gear and set after the Setup Master. The Whiley Setup Master pulled some of his massive skill out and said not today grasshopper. Hobby Shop knowing he would be unable to make it work, decided to team up with the Setup Master and put chase after Speed. With all this jostling The Foreigner had a big lead and was laughing out front thinking the car will be awesome in Denver. At this point the unthinkable happened, he made a very slight mistake and knocked something off the car. Just like that he was out. In a stroke of luck Speed inherited the lead and brought home the win. Hobby Shop was never able to rattle the Setup master, with the Setup master second and Hobby shop settling for third.

Results: Speed, Setup Master, Hobby Shop, Superstar, Amain, Fabio, and The Foreigner DNF

We must thank Danny for coming from Saskatoon and joining us for some fun racing. Also, nice to see some of the regulars back. It was nice to see Josh back hopefully you can make it out more. Also, it was great to see Ivan back, making time in his busy schedule to come out and race with us. Thanks again to Gordon for the video it adds to the weekly smack talk.

Tim just a heads up. You're missing a corner dot, had to take it as a template to cut the others. Please grab a flapper and throw it on there for now, sorry for the inconvenience.

A great Sunday raceday! We had 2 heats of mini (that became one giant heat), a heat of USGT and 2 heats of Touring Stock. Thanks to all the kids that raced their minis and touring cars, I saw a lot of improvement over the day. And thanks to our Edmonton friends for driving down.

We'll hold another Sunday race in two weeks, just ahead of the big race of the year, the WCICS finals!

Don't forget practice days of Tuesday and Wednesday and our regular Friday race nights! There's not many more left!

Hey guys! Had a great time on Friday even with my mental blocks regarding driving.

Does anyone have the copies of the 17.5 and Mod A-Mains? I'd like to see my lap time breakdowns.

Cheers!

Only (2) more days before we get to play with Toy Cars again, and it can not come soon enough!

Last week I stopped by the Club's Sunday event and it was filled with Families! Everyone in the pits appeared to be having a great time!

The pits were buzzing with talk about the Friday night race report, and some people were worried... Worried about what their Nickname might be on future race reports! ha ha ha. I had (3) people ask me about possible nicknames when they come on Friday nights! Unfortunately that information is top secret and you need to come on Friday to make the report

Mark Friday 5pm on your schedule and come down to Carcar and drive your Mini, Mod, or Stock car and earn an amazing nickname at the same time!

Cheers,
Blaine

Thanks Blaine. Superstar eh, lol, I guess it could be worse... a lot worse, so I'll take it! It was nice to just drive again, forgot how fun it is. Then up 3:45am for the flight to -25C north of Grande Prairie for several days, work schedule has been just killer the last 2 years.

HUGE thanks to all the CarCar racers who've stepped up, like Kerry, Blaine, Ian, Walter, Tim, Mark, etc and gone above and beyond for this club we all love. Thanks to all!

Only one more sleep!!!!! Race day is nearly upon us. Come out for a great night of racing, see if Mr. DNF can finish a heat or two. See if The Wall Bernie can clear the plywood, see if One Lap Blaine can finish warmup. See Fabio work the hairdryer like the pro he is. Come out and have a good time and pickup a cool nickname.

See you there.

ps. Blaine remember no matter how you finish, we don't keep score and you are always a winner.

Friday night racing arrived and the Horse Shoe Club filled up with competitors! We had 4 FULL heats of racing action! TC stock and TC mod were both filled up with experienced and beginner racers alike! Only their skills and speed would determine if they would make the A or B mains!

One of Western Canada's fastest guys Wayne "The Drone" Mah showed up to school locals on fast lines around on the track! Dwayne "Groundhog" Flodell poked his head out of his home to check for his shadow and run some laps!

Touring Stock B main

A battle was a foot tonight at Carcar. Our B main field was filled with a field of hungry drivers who were chomping at the bit to get things going. On the pole was Slammin Sammy, followed by Mr. DNF Cal, One Lap Blaine, The Mechanic Trevor, Tim Bulb, New Addiction Dave and Killer B Berry. You could feel the machismo and testosterone brewing on the driver’s stand as the hounds awaited to get going. On the tone, we had Slammin Sammy rocket off the line and a couple of corners in had a pretty good lead. He knew he had the speed to hold the rest of the field off. Mr. DNF, after missing heats and trashing in the pits, installing new motors every round, setting the timing to kill, put chase. Even with his massive resources was struggling to find the pace of Slammin Sammy.

Behind the two gladiators at the front, we had One Lap, the Mechanic and The Bulb battling hard. The only thing fast with One Lap last night was his smack talking. The Mechanic was all over One Lap, going right and going left and ended up getting into One Lap, this opening the door for Bulb who got knocked around by One Lap and The Mechanic, so luck was not on his side. The Mechanic made his charge on One Lap and got beside him, but One Lap, in a fit of rage with his lack of speed, was having nothing of that. He squeezed the Mechanic onto the curbing which threw him in the wall. With this battling, Bulb was all over One Lap like a cheap suit. One Lap made a mistake and flipped and jumped the board. With great sportsmanship, he waited, but forgot to pull the trigger and Bulb hit him. This promoted Bulb into third. One Laps woes continued, where he had a simple body tuck that resulted in the car being shut off and that’s all she wrote. The Mechanic was pressuring Bulb and we were waiting for the first to blink, it was Bulb. He got greedy with a corner and it made him pay. This mistake had him flying off the track into the wall like a bug on a windshield. The Mechanic moved into third and drove smooth and was unchallenged from the there.

While all this action was going on up front we had a battle between New Addiction and Killer B. Killer B after a long hiatus joined us for a night of fun. He was shaking the rust off all night and the speed was coming back. New Addiction didn’t know who this new Killer B dude was and thought how dare you challenge me. New Addiction drove arguably the best race of his year, smooth and consistent. He was putting down some fast clean laps and had his sights on One Lap would was no far up the track. With this target in sight, and his finger on the throttle, it made it nearly impossible for a rusty Killer B to catch up. Killer B was concentrating on driving nice clean lines getting back to speed, nice job. New Addiction’s challenge ran out of time and he was unable to run down One Lap.

Up front not much changed Slammin Sammy led from beginning to end with Mr. DNF not able to close the gap. On this night Slammin Sammy had the car to beat. Mr. DNF was left scratching the peach fuzz under his hat, think of what could have been. We all know Mr. DNF took solace in the fact that he whipped One Lap like a rented mule, which we are sure took the sting off. This was a great heat with a great group of drivers and was a hoot too watch.

Results: Slammin Sammy, Mr. DNF, The Mechanic, Bulb, One Lap, New Addiction, and Killer B.

A Main Touring Stock

Wayne "The Drone, Bryce "Arrow", Josh "Superstar", Dwayne "Groundhog" , Kerry "SkidMark", Ivan "Fabio and Walter "Mini King" all drove fast laps and qualified into the main event! With motors turned on and batteries charged to max amps, the race started! As everyone rounded the first corner they found a stack of cars piled up higher then our local marijuana connoisseurs. A few lucky drivers were able to navigate the field and gain multiple positions and by going wide around the mess while The Drone casually added half a lap advantage to his lead withing 4 seconds of the tone!

The rest of the pack had a major battle brewing for the remaining two podium positions. Mini King skipped the crash and jumped directly into second place. He had visions of trophy girls holding his controller and champane showers again this week! Unfortunately, the luck of the Irish escaped Mini King as Skidmark was blowing streaks in his tighty whites and passing everyone on his charge from the back of the pack. Out of his hole for the summer, Groundhog was not scared of Skidmark and stayed right on his bumper, until Skidmark opened up a whole wide enough for a school bus and in went Groundhog.

The Arrow was busy pointing out that Superstar would look good in a feather cut. While Fabio was trying to decide if he should he use scissors or clippers. All these possibilities and excitement they didn't realize they were going so slow that even One Lap could have passed them multiple times.

Finishing Order

The Drone, Groundhog, Skidmark, Mini King, Fabio, The Arrow, Superstar

Touring Mod

Wayne "The Drone", Jim "Monster", Josh "Superstar", Tommy "Speed", Ivan "Fabio", Cal "Mr DNF", Berine "The Wall", Patrick "The Beard" were all in a mega A battle. As the A Main mod drivers squeezed their trigger finger the vehicles jumped into action. Quickly The Drone, and Monster rounded the first few series of corners trying to get away from the pack. However with a stacked pack it was not as easy as they would have liked, because everyone behind them were calculating their risk vs reward ratio on each corner. The Wall though cutting the first corner would pay dividends on a sweet pass on Mr Dnf. However, with the new corners in place, he quickly found out that hitting the breaks in the air does not adjust the trajectory of your vehicle or slow down impact to the wall. Mr DNF also decided that having successfully completed each round of qualifying that the main could be used for durability testing of his new body! Each impact nicely flexed the front bumper down and gave the whole car a nice rattle. He finished without broken parts, and a nice durability review for moneymatix.

The Beard was running mod for the second time, but judging from the grin on his face (or so I assume... It's hard to see into that beard) he will be back.

Fabio and Superstar had a back an forth battle. Superstar tried to lay a finishing inside pass on Fabio and was rejected by the pipes. Having bounce off the boards and then finishing nose into the boards, no amount of creatine was going to get him out of a dead stop. MARSALL

Speed was out running laps. Mega fast laps! Staring from mid field did not please Mr Speed, so he wanted some redemption. After closing quick on the positions immedationly in front of him, he soon had his eyes on The Drone. With a small error from The Done, Speed was soon on his bumper looking to claim first. The buzzer sounded and the crowd was denied the battle for first.

Finishing Order:

The Drone, Speed, Monster, Fabio, Superstar, Mr DnF, The Wall, The Beard.
