As mtbkym01 has said most, if not all of the current crop of 2wd buggies are able to run full sized packs.
But can't look past a TLR22.

If my memory serves me correctly, you also have a Madcap sitting in the cupboard?

Last pic I saw of your Madcap kym it was hanging from your shed wall.
Looks great now mate.
Nice hop-ups too.
Hard to tell from the pics but that motor looks like a fancy, period correct unit.

I believe the car pictured was my madcap(although now pristine). Looks like a visit to model flight is on the cards.

What's the generally accepted wind for 2wd mod? 7.5? I've only got 17.5's i could run boosted or a 5.5 but that's too much motor.

I run 6.5 in my Ultima, plenty of motor for sure, 17.5 boosted would be surprisingly competitive. Raced at the Nats a few years ago up North and the "stock" winner (when boost was legal) would've placed 4th in mod with his lap times

I run a Tekin 8.5T in my 22.
IMO anything between 6.5 - 8.5T is fine

Default Transponder locations

Ok just converted the H2 to rear mount, mid struggled for grip at MP. So now all electrics are re configured the last thing is transponder location. From what I have read, it is best not to mount to aluminium and I guess not on there side so any ideas or pics from the tlr22 guys or H2 guys

On my 22 I have just used velcro to attach it to the top of the servo. 1 transponder 2 cars.

I had no issues at Bordertown with it like that.

I think the winners at Bordertown were running 10.5T (which is what I'm going to be running in my Schumacher ).

Wow guys!!! Bit greedy on the turns there lol...
Hi Benzaah, thanks for the pm. Glad to hear your keen to come down and race.
Always good to see new faces from other RC formulas. From what I see at most clubs and state events most of the fast guys run between an 8.5 and 10.5 turn motors. More than enough motor for a 2wd on dirt. To bring that point home even more a lot of them run lower C rating batteries ( 30 to 40C ) to smoother things out. You'll know from your on road experience wheel spin isn't deal. Even more so on out door tracks.
Anyway come down to Mitchell pk in the next few weeks ill be more than happy to hand over the transmitter.
Cheers

Oh c'mon Dos you know a race is won down the straight so you need the extra T's

In all seriousness I am thinking the 6.5T in the XB4 is too much now that I really think about it
I like the 8.5T in my 22 it feels right to me and I have the settings on the ESC set to a good spot for me too (gotta love the Tekin hotwire)

I've tried both 6.5T and 8.5T in my 22, and much prefer the 8.5T.
I like the torque of the 8.5 and a lot smoother too.

17.5T boosted would be quite competitive though.

Tried 17.5 in SCT and was great through the tighter sections of the track, but lacked some legs down the straight compared to 10.5T.
Have to admit it was under-geared and running blinky ESC compared to maxed out timing with the 10.5T.

I'd love an Astute (first one, not the Super), maybe one day...

After nearly 30 years, I've finally scored a Hornet though.
