Why don't we try the 6 minute qualifying and 8 minute Final at the race day on Sunday 6th May.

What are your thoughts?

Sounds great and if it gets the go ahead, can we please do the same for F1 on Sunday's as well?

Last Sunday's meet went by so quickly even with the 2 qualifying and 2 finals format. There is no great rush to finish up on a Sunday and it is a great way to make it stand out from the "all business" Tuesday nights.

Have to agree, it went by quick, thats why we had the 5/10min break between rounds.
We are "tweaking" how Sundays run as we go, but the biggest thing is numbers, the lower numbers on Sunday (last) helped to make it quicker.

Until MuchMore Masters the club is trying the 11am gates open, but this may change to a 10am Gates open in the future.

Not sure about F1 running longer, i don't have a problem with it, will talk to the F1 guys Sunday (if they are there) and will do the same next Tuesday night to get the feel for it.

Cheers
Matt B

Damn straight! My old man had a few Valiants when I was growing up, they friggin flew! Wouldn't mind an old XA-XC Falcon Coupe shell either.

How do you guys go with Marshalls for VTA? Last race meet we had modified racers marshalling a 5 min race and it just seemed like they viewed the class with contempt, marshalling was too much bother for them, certainly no urgency in retrieving a car, so I don't think we'd ever get to 8-10 min races without giving them a pillow and a cup of joe.

I only ask as VTA drivers marshall other classes and I know that myself, I try and make an effort (as much as someone on heart meds can) so it's frustrating to see an able bodied mod driver simply not be bothered to do the right thing because it's a class they appear to look down on.

I dont seem to find Marshaling an issue at SMA personally, you do from time to time see slow marshals but I think we have all been caught out now and then daydreaming.. Generally speaking over many years the elitist drivers can and at times do look down on a "So called" lower class but I think that says a lot more about them than the class. Also the "Elitist Driver" exists in several classes, these guys generally want to win at all cost and are very self centered they dont only exist in Mod.. But our guys I must say are pretty good..

At the end of the day whether you drive Mod or Mini they are still scale cars when its all said and done and those who lose sight of why we are there to begin with ..Well I feel sorry for them.. There is nothing like coming home with a silly grin on your face knowing you just spent a few hours racing with your mates having a good time with all the banter that goes with it.. The spirit of why we do it .. Mind you being the last race on Tuesdays can be a task for some it would be good to alternate now and then ;):nod:

I've got my 416X setup for VTA at the moment. Hasn't had a run for a few weeks, so I can't remember the gearing off the top of my head. I did fit the 6mm hex hubs so the tyres could clear the steering links. ;)

Would love to run it more often, but between CC rounds and trying to get the F1 working for MMM, there hasn't been a lot of time

No worries mate there will be plenty of time after the MuchMores ;) 416's seem to go very well for VTA.. Im running the E-Spirit Edam car very happy with it still experimenting ... 44/63 Gearing final drive now is 2.8..:D
