I think next NYE sydney should be the first to recycle old RC packs and make the fireworks from overcharged batteries

AB, I know you favour brushed only; clearly I'm for BL (although I haven't driven it yet!). Can we have a vote??

Comparing LiPo packs in planes vs cars is like comparing apples to oranges whats the amp draw on a plane or copter 15-20 amps compared to a car 60-90 amps.

The Tuesday Night before Sunday racing will be a Point Score round.

As this is the first Tuesday racing for the year, it will be a relaxed night of racing so the Guys can set up the cars for the first point score round.

The Drift Drivers are more than welcome to attend next week, so spread the word . . .

Don't forget, the earlier we set up the track, the more racing you will have on the night.

Cheers,

IDM

Publicity officer

Answer- No

See you at the track . . .

Some of our helicopters draw easy over 80 amps, that's why we use 85HV ESC's up to 150A ESC's. It really depends on the size of the helicopter. Some of our helicopters use 10S to 12S LiPo packs which use 37V-44.4V to power the bl motors. A Flightpower EVO20 10S1P LiPo pack has 74Amp Continuous, 30C 111Amp sustained, 50C 185Amp Bursts.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Patrick is right, there Aircraft and Heli setups out there drawing well over 100 amps, electric pylon racers for example. Loading wise they are can be at full load for much longer than cars would be on a circuit, oval excluded. There seems to be a bit of paranoia about LiPo's, no offence to anyone but mostly from people who haven't used them or researched them. In 9 out of 10 cases I've heard of them letting go and or catching fire, it's because the people using them have broken the golden rules of LiPo usage, don't exceed the recommended charge and discharge rates, usually mostly the charging rates, ie: 1C normally. Most of the video's posted in the net about exploding LiPo's have been over charged on purpose. I've got 3 LiPo packs for Aicraft/Heli's that I've had for over 2 years now ( admittedly not much use lately ) but have never had a problem.

Default Lithgow

For those of you taking the trip up to Lithgow next Sunday week (Feb 11), details as to how to get there can be found on;

http://www.lithgowrccarclub.com/

Look on the menu on the left side and click on 'Find Us'.

A few of us will be commuting on Saturday morning to get in some well needed practice.

Please ensure you get your entry forms in well in advance so it makes it easier for the organisers to arrange catering etc.
