Which pipe would you recommend for the 3port?

Gary-D8 01-22-2009 06:12 PM

The .21 3 port 'race' combo comes with the Femca 0801 pipe so that's probably a pretty good place to start. Should really get it singing nicely and have plenty of punch and great runtimes.

Cheers,
Gary

I cant decide on [MMST53PT] (MM5 GO 21R 3 port) or the combo deal of [RSPECOMBO] (Go 3 Port R Spec Combo).

Which would you recommend. The difference in cost (engine plus pipe plus carb restrictors = $363, compared to $299 for the combo deal).

I guess $64 isn't a lot of money.

Hi Craig, I wondered where you had got to. All GO power eh :)
The 7 Port is a nice motor. Probably my favourite compared to the 5, in standard form anyway. The MM5 5 Port I have is a little different to the norm. It actually performs and revs out more like a 7 Port, just has a little more bottom end.
Will see you at Hamilton on Sunday. Should be a big meeting. Seems everyone is heading down (or up ).

Hard to argue with that  A MM Stage 5 3 Port R Spec is gonna be one helluva motor for sure. :D

If I'm not mistaken, that is what Brad was running at FEMCA late last year and by all account, it certainly had his Truggy flying. Enough to get him into the A-final. Pretty sure thats what he was running. If so, then its gonna be a weapon in the buggy. Should get some good runtimes out of it too.

Cheers,
Gary

Hey guys, you seem to know your stuff about go motors, I agree the 5 and7 port 21's are fantastic bang for your buck I have used both, about sep last year I got a go 28 with stage 5 mods I put about 4. Liters through it and gave it to my dad because he was having trouble with his motor and during the final the the block cracked about 10 ml below the cooling head I have seen this twice now, I am wondering if there is a revised block that has had this prob adressed ? If so where can I get 1
cheers trav

I spoke to brad recently and hes put a few more litres on that engine , he says its going even harder now so he's pretty chuffed.

Jason, I would recommend pulling it down and giving it s thorough checking over and clean before running it again. It may be fine but it'd be a shame to ruin it. Just run the 3 port for now, until you can be sure that there is no dust, rocks or anything inside that may cause damage or seizing.

Hey Jase !

id agree with Gary , it will take you 10 mins to inspect the engine. Generally any sort of dirt in the engine will damage it to a certain extent.

Glad you like the fuel man ! keep me posted on how it goes ... heres some after run info for you guys ok ! Cheers MM

OK Ofter run maintenance 101

1 At the end of day detach fuel tube from HSN
2 Run engine on box with ignitor attached to the plug till you hear it stop popping. Should take 20 to 30 seconds. This means you have burned off the nitro and methanol left in the engine.
3 take off filter, open carb slide to WOT, Put After Run Oil down open carb, Close Carb slide and run engine again for about 10 seconds on the box without the ignitor on.

Or you can go one step further

We make an after run fuel for the nitro boats , because they run up to 65% nitro they take huge after run care , they run a fuel i make that flushes out any nitric acid residue. It has no nitro or methanol in it.

What causes corrosion ?
Methanol and Nitro.

Why ?
Because Nitro when burnt becomes nitric acid and Methanol attracts moisture, when acid and moisture are left un checked they cause corrosion.

Some engines will corrode more easily than others as they have a higher nickel or iron content in their crank / bearings ..

Every RC fuel on the planet has Nitro and Methanol so every fuel on the planet has the ability to cause corrosion if YOU dont take after run care.

MASSIVE !:nod::eek::nod::eek::sneaky:

jasonhiggo 01-28-2009 09:47 PM

hey mark

engine looks fine mark just pulled it out took back plate off and head couldnt see any dirt so i flooded it in afterun oil . the crank looks a bit rusty colour but that shouldnt be a prob cause i afterun all the time ?
