standard vs turbo GO .21 5pt

hello,

I'm beginning the second (2010 season) witch GO .21 5pt turbo engine. In my opinion GO gives good balance between performance and price. I want to ask you, guys is this true in your opinion: the only difference between standard and turbo engine is bottom head and plug? (there are no diffs in sleeve for ex?)
According to special-rc ebay seller offer "GO 21 5+2p Standard Race Engine".

I'm from Poland (EU), but maybe find some advice from Australian experts :sneaky:

best regards,
Andy

Your correct Andy, the only difference is the head button and plug used for each head button.

Thanks, Flanno

I have 1-st qualifications National Cup on 17-18 April and tomorrow I'm planning to broken in my brand new 5PT GX-5R (first tank 'on the brick' next tanks softly on the track). Than, may be sell my Hyper ST and buy X2 (jammin/hong nor).

2010 season has began! :D

Don't run tanks through on the starter box. Heat it thouroughly before starting, then get it running quite rich with the head foiled and throw it on the ground straight away. Fig of 8's up to 1/4 throttlle for the first couple of tanks, then go from there. Letting it tick away on the box at less than 100 C is just too hard on a new motor.

MassiveMods 04-07-2010 03:30 PM

Id avoid the " Quite Rich " bit Just pre heat , Warm up for 30 seconds while you get a basic tune and play with it !

Ive been recently building some engines for some Full scale drag racing guys , one owns LSX Performance .. he wanted m to make him a " Killer Engine " so i did .. it killed his car on the first run lol but You should see the run in procedure these guys do ..

Start
Tune for clean rev max 1 minute
ON the ground at WOT across Hefforn Park ( thats approx 150 meters at WOT )

We got his buggy doing wheelstands on demand now ! and its a buggy !

GET THE FUNK ! Its the one and only Nickmanssive Jaberstoneson !

Actually the Heffron Park location is called HughHeffStiff Secret Techno Intelligence Fleeting Fraternity.

What brings you back to survey the forums bro ? in need of some light humour ?

Rody 04-07-2010 11:25 PM

I was sick, at home today with a stiff .... erm.... neck, and just though i'd jump on for some light humour.

I could not help but laugh at MMSTF number 13. The other 12 are top secret.

My favourite one remains the 'NOAM CHOMSKY' facility. Remember that one?

My .21 GX 5r after five tanks

Hi guys!

So I've tested an "australian way" of braking in nitro engines ;)
I was asked...
- do you drive on the track on the first tank?
- the temp should be uder 80 cels deg?
and so on... One guy said that he made high oil mixture and run first 3 tanks very very rich that he used glow plug igniter to force engine to run all the time.
In my opinion too rich mixture has bad impact on the crankshaft, conrod etc.

I used Byron Originals ProDriver fuel 25% nitro with 9% oil, and ritchen oil percentage up to 13-14% by Byron Lube Booster oil. First heat up the engine to 60 deg - it started immediately, I did some LSN tests but the default set was ok.
Now I'm after 5 tanks, there was no (zero) piston pinch, temp was 90-110 deg, engine gives good smoke. On the next 5 tanks I'm planing to lean out some LSN, then HSN.

Thanks for your advice, any suggestions about next steps?

bigmatt 04-08-2010 01:26 PM

I used massive mods run in oil when I did mine. The next 5 tanks,or more you will start leaning the lsn only. When or if you are at a good place with the engine I would leave it alone. Just run it,keep air filters clean and you should not need to do any needle setting for another gallon. Just remember each one of these engines has it's own characteristic and my be different from every body else's. On mine the needles are very touchy. An 1/8th of a turn one way or the other and I am loosing the tune. You will notice as the engine wears in that you will need to adjust. Just not after every tank. More like every 1/2-1 gallon. Then you will be at the place where you fire it up and leave it alone. That's why I rec. you keep air filter clean, until you reach the point that you no longer are fooling with the needle settings. Just to make sure your engine is getting enough clean air,is why I suggested the air filter maint. One last thing check head bolts, carb pinch bolt to make sure nothing has vibrated loose.

aaah the Noam Chomsky .. in ode to TomB C 2006 , that was a great test facility. These days we cant keep all the testing in secret. Theres a bit of an entourage in tow so its pretty fun, doing a lot more video taping these days which is nuts.

So hows the Married Life man ? any mini Jaberstons on the way ?

running an engine excessively rich is like a marathon runner trying to complete a race while treading water in a swimming pool.

Start it
tune it
run it

simple

Thanks for advice, I'll place my next posts to Official Go-Tech Engines Thread (international).
