Hi Buddy, im just in the process of conveting my spare car to short wheel base, im running 36t pulleys, standard centre pulleys with the standard front belt and a Tamiya 415 rear belt, you have to move the rear shock tower on the front side of the bulk head, when mine is complete i will post some pics.

Will post some pics up tomorrow night, I ran the car on the weekend with some very positive results.
Our track is very low grip (netball court) and i usually use Much More 32's but the car had better overall traction/grip and I was able to run Much More 36's, the setup stayed the same as before the only change was to the short wheel base. Rhys |
hey dude... good to hear the run was a success...
so at the end of it all... which way/method did u use to make the car SWB ? was either belt tight ? |
Hi buddy, sorry but i have run out of time with getting the car ready for a TFTR run this weekend, when i get back, will put up some pics and a report how the car goes.

hey guys whats your opinion on front hubs as far as i can tell there are 4 versions,
aluminium with bearings aluminium with bushings aluminium for narrow plastic stock ok so i destroyed 2 plastic ones, i spoke to a fellow corally driver and said get the aluminium hubs cuse although i would break arms, the arms are stronger then the stock hubs, is this true? secondly which hub is best? when will corally aus have them in stock? (currently only aluminium narrow and kit plastic in stock) cheers guys |

I will start playing around the the narrow wheelbase and see how i like it. As for a set up with 540. Id sudgest kit set up. My set ups for stock that i have varie little to that of kit set up. Also as for a choice with the alloy knuckles, as both Ari and Tomic said you can go with the knuckles with either bearings or brushes. They are strong but the impact gets tranfered to the arms. Which i found out at windsor . If you go with the narrow knuckles you will need the shorter cv'ds. If im not mistaken the new 09 Phi comes with the narrow knuckles and shorter cvd's???. They are meant to provide more steering. But i found the phi to have plenty as is. If you decide to go with the narrow alloy knuckles. Let me know as i have a brand new set that i wont be using. |
sure, sounds about right.
where do you think i should look if the car is understeering? i going to make changes one at a time and see the effect of each.... i have rebulit the shock (they had not been for a while) and also i have managed to adjust ride hieght to 5mm front and 5.5 back... we run on foams/asphalt... here in SA and have a national race soon any help would be appreciated.. |

Given that you will run foam on Asphalt, personally, id be trying different tyre compounds first. What Front and Rear shore are you using? I found that with foam, it doesnt matter how good your setup is, if you are on the wrong shore rating you wont get the most out of it. |
ja i run 35 all round, i have looked at the xray setup guide and there is some information on there, i would say its mid corner understeer....
