Well I took the car out for some laps today, for a first time run it definitely shows potential.

Definitely has a lot more steering than the 08 PHI, probably a little too much steering and may have to settle the car down to my liking.

I found it to be rotating to much in the rear, I tried a few different things which definitely helped slow this down and car was feeling a lot better.

Changes tried from kit settings

1st change - camberlinks in the lower inner holes on front and rear towers

2nd change - 2mm of washers under the camberlink on the rear hub

3rd change - spacers underneath the wishbone mounting blocks in the rear

Next I will try removing the bulkhead screw and also going to try widening front and rear track.

As this is my first Corally can anyone give me some tips on building / setup. The car will mostly run on a concrete surface (stock). Is there any particular spare parts you would suggest I purchase.

Any help would be appreciated

This guy waited ages to get a 09 Corally,
do you's think that at least one of you guys could reply to his request for assistance,
if it had been an Xray, he would have had a mountain of help...

The car is new and they are only just hitting tracks now, that is probably why no one has posted a lot.

:weird::weird::weird:

I have been only out with mine over the past 3 days and have shared quite a lot of the different things I have tried, look a couple of posts above yours and you will see that ????

As far as the build I built mine as per kit and there was not really anything that comes to mind that needed special attention.

On another note I ran the car again today,

Surface is a large gas asphalt track – Med grip and with some off camber corners and elevation changes

Found the car responded well to the changes below and was very good at the end of the race meeting

Now running the car as per below

Tamiya Shocks – No foam rebound spacer inside
Springs – 17lb Front & Rear
Oil – 50w FRT, 40w REAR
Shock positions
Front – Top middle hole, Lower outer hole
Rear – Top second hole from inside, Lower middle hole

Wheelbase – kit shimming front and rear
Camber links – kit
Ride height – FR=5.5, R=6
Droop – FR 4mm, R 3.5mm – using droop blocks
Body – Protoform Speed 6

I tried oringing the top deck but did not like it as it made the car feel to flexy and at times too lazy and unresponsive. I also tried a 19 & 17 lb spring combo but it was causing understeer and push.

My setup is not totally to my satisfaction yet, but yesterday i unlocked a great deal more speed by adding 1.2mm shims for rear anti-squat, this free'd up the rear end and results in plenty of mid-ext steering. My problem thus far had been power on understeer.

Ive also shortend the wheelbase at the front (all spacers forward) and reduced rear toe-in. 40wt, 3 hole pistons F/R, lowered , long camber links.

Well the build is complete and wired up and ready to go. And must say it looks FAST :D

First run will be tomorrow on the rug 17.5 with the new Tekin 199 software against the 13.5's.

Car went together fairly well except i changed in the build:

- Wasn't happy with the spacers in between the c-hubs and knuckle so i installed the alloy shorter knuckles and 08 style alloy chubs. I found the alloy ones to be smoother then the plastic parts with spacer. The rear hubs are stock though.

Will let you all know how it goes tomorrow ;)

Hello!

I think i will move the shock at the rear of the shock tower on my PHI09.

But it seem's i must use tamiya wishbone too do that well?

Which type of tamiya wishbone do you use? Short or long type?

And if i use Tamiya arm's,can i still use PHI09 driveshaft's?

Hey Paul,

With the shims in the rear did you add them under the front and rear of the rear arm mount blocks or just under one to change the angle of the arm ?

Just under the front most rear arm mounts, to give the car anti squat.

Well first maiden run with 09 Phi showed exactly how much potential it has.

The forth round of the Challenge Cup series was held over the weekend at Bathurst. The venue was a carpet track which was pretty tight.

I managed to secure TQ and 1st in stock touring, also taking 1st place over all four rounds in stock :D. The car performed flawlessly over the weekend taking the win in all 4 qualifiers and winning 2 of 3 finals. The car took some fairly big hits to and surprisingly didn't break at all over the weekend :D.

Ill be posting my set up tomorrow, so far its 1 from 1 with the new kit :sneaky:

Its first run on asphalt will be when i head to the SA titles in the coming weeks, so ill be reporting on the progress over the weekend while im there.

Hi guys

Been following the reports on the new car on and off for a little while... I am trying to decide between 2 cars for my new one...

Just trying to clear a few things up -

1) how does the 09 handle using the kit settings? some people says its got lots of steering... some have said it pushes on corner exit

2) If the diff doesn't have a thrust bearing in it (according to RedRc) how does it control diff action?
