Ok reports are in and the track has held up pretty well from the big wet. It is still soft but we have a warm day tomorrow so should be ok by Sunday. If people can stay off the track till at least Sat afternoon we should be ok.
Racing Sunday should start around 9.30am. Rego taken from about 9am.

The truck guys are still hoping to get together from about 4pm today (Sat) for a run/ practise/ drive/ test session. They were planning a bit of a BBQ as well. I hope the weather holds for them. I unfortunately won't be there as have ongoing family/school events which have taken up any spare time (and beyond) over the past few days and nights.
Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Xmas & New Year.
We will set a date for the first official event of 2019 (late Jan) soon. This will likely be our AGM as well.
We will be needing people to put their hand up for roles in the club and on the committee. So have a think about how you might like to see the club develop in 2019 and what you can do to help us see out that vision.
Thanks to everyone who has been at the club meets this year. We have been able to grow with numbers enough this year to make racing again a regular and most importantly an enjoyable day.
Special thanks to the committee members and the new guys who have joined us in 2019 and really have the core of the hobby in mind each race day...having fun.
See you in 2019.
Hope Santa has lots of Rc goodies for all the good boys and girls out there.

I suspect the track should at least be dry at the moment.

Baked may be the more appropriate terminology.

Will post re when first race day will be in 2019 when I can confirm current committee's availability.

First meet should also be our AGM so please think about assisting the club by offering to take on a role with the clubs committee.

Cheers and Happy 2019 to all.

Hoping to be able to run a race meeting this coming Sunday. Just needing to confirm a race director. (I am away so needing someone to help out and someone on the computer). Suspect there might be some people with new toys from the pressie xpress of Xmas.
Clubs AGM will be the 1st race meet of Feb. We can hopefully then outline some plans and hopes for the club in 2019.
Watch this space and I or another committee member will give update shortly re race day plans for this weekend.

Ok so we have a race director for Sunday booked in (thanks John). Weather is looking ok
(i.e not wet and not likely to have you wilting in 5 minutes of being outside - 43 degrees expected where I am going Fri).
Have had a few messages that we have some truck guys expected and a few people with new cars etc to run. So sounding good.
Usual day is to take regos from about 9am and try to get racing by 9.30am.
Hope others can pitch in and help set up tables, race control and help John take rego info and others can blow the track etc.
I will try to have some 2019 Membership forms for anyone wanting to sign up.

Membership will be $10 for adults for the year and $5 for Juniors (under 16).I will email out the form to members list and will try to attach it to the St Ives RC Tech thread as well.

Reminder 2019 AGM will be 1st meeting in Feb which is expected to be the 3rd of Feb, not this Sunday.

Cheers,
Thommo

AGM is also held 1st race meet of Feb.
Plan will be to hold meeting around 9.00 am.
Hopefully all done in 20 or so minutes.
Then we can get entries sorted and racing under way.
Some plans for 2019 to be discussed.
Need to sort committee for 2019.

Agenda to follow along with minutes from last meet (these might only be emailed out to those on the email list).

Had a few enquiries re entries for Sunday.
Presently we have to enter the info on race day (few reasons) so save yourself the time and don't enter via clubs online entries page
We will take rego info and payment after club AGM (to start at 9am). Hence rego probably from about 9.30am.
Cheers, Thommo

Sorry for late update, was out, checking out possible track options at Coogee.
Too sandy there.
So plan is looking positive for racing at St Ives tomorrow. Damp in spots but hopefully no rain overnight so will be ok to go.
Remember 9am AGM so it will allow a bit more time for track drying. But we can also throw a bit of carpet on the worst spots.

Racing is planned for this Sunday. 9am rego. Racing from 9.30am.

Other news: Key committee members from last meets AGM.

President: Andrew Thompson
Vice President: Greg Bakla
Treasurer: Michael Toms
Secretary: John Hawkins

(full minutes will be sent via email to members).

Additionally there will need to be a track rebuild in 2019.

The restriction from council that has been in place the past 7 years, stopping the club from bringing new soil/ clay onto the site, still stands.
Hence we are looking at having only wooden jumps.
Additionally we have a preliminary ok to lay carpet to the track surface. This is still to be given the full ok from council. Hence no date for this change yet.
The key goals are to further reduce erosion of what clay we have from wind and rain. Plus to see if we get a more consistent surface. If given the green light by council we will try the carpet for 2019 and then review.

Additionally we are in negotiations with council for some significant repairs to the drivers stand as there is no clear indication if we will move from our current site. The council has to resolve some matters affecting the whole Showground site.

Hope to see many of you at the track on Sunday.
