Page 2 of the nomination form state:

Special rules:
Please note this is a control Tyre event.

Front Tyres are open for 2wd classes.

Rear tyres must be:
For 2wd Modified, 2wd 17.5: ProProPro-Line Line Calibre M3 Rear Buggy Tires (PRO8210 -02) 02)

For 17.5 Truck, Modified Truck: Pro-Line Line Calibre M3 Truck Tires (PRO8209-02)

For Short Course Truck: Pro -Line Line Calibre M3 SC Truck Tires M3 SC Truck Tires(PRO1156 -02)

For 4wd 17.5 and 4wd Modified:
Front Tyres must be: Pro -Line Calibre M3 Buggy Tires (PRO8211-02)
Rear Tyres must be: Pro-Line Calibre M3 Buggy Tires (PRO8210 -02)

I think that I've got it right, but please don't shoot me if it's not 100% correct. I'm really an On-Road gas person doing the job of secretary (no-one else seems to want the job); and not that well versed with Off-Road or electric cars, so the query will be forwarded to the ORRCA Off-Road rep. Meanwhile; just download and check for details on the Entry form here: http://www.orrcaqld.org.au/Downloads...try%20form.pdf.

Kindest regards,
Lars.

Hi Leigh, since this is an ORRCA event I understand that inserts are legal.

9.5.5
All tyres must be black. Foam tyres are not allowed. Foam/cap tyres are not allowed but internal foam inserts are permitted.
Tyres will not be modified in any way that will affect their original dimensions or construction; tyre beads can be trimmed to fit into bead mount areas of rims.

Thanks for the replies. I just need some clarification. Yes its a controlled tire event but does that include the foam as well. I want to run foam Glenn but I want to know if I choose to run a harder or another suppliers foam will that be OK or will I be disqualified. The rule states its a control tire event with no mention of the foam. Not having a go at anyone.

I interpret the above rule to allow aftermarket foams, as not running foams at all is kinda retarded so even mentioning it in the rules would be a moot point.

No idea what a foam/cap tyre is though.

Does anyone else's interpretation of 9.5.5 differ?

Showing my age now. The did make full foam tires for off road at one stage, probably still be able to obtain them still if you looked around.
The cap tire not sure but I was once in a hobby shop and I saw some off road rubber tires with silicon like capping on them. May be an update of the rules to make it a bit clearer is needed.

Still need some clarification about tire inserts though.

As I see it, the tire is one we all have to use anyway, so no arguments there, and as there is no mention of having to use the supplied foam with the tire, any foam insert is allowed.
Like Lars said, many years ago you could get foam tires for your buggy, Tamiya had a set for 1.9 3 piece rims that were made up in layers with small squares taken out and your put the 5 or 6 rings in the formation you wanted to suit the type of surface you were running on.

Speedies for 17.5 turn need to be on the ROAR Racing's approved list http://www.roarracing.com/?page_id=737. ROAR has just updated their approved lists, but ORRCA's updated version with pictures is too large to upload to this forum. Our website manager is overseas, so the updated version it will unfortunately not be uploaded to our website http://www.orrcaqld.org.au/ until the website manager returns to Australia. Meanwhile, it is important to check with ROAR's website for approvals.

The currently ROAR approved Speed Passion speedies are:

Speed Passion Cirtix Stock Club Race # 12280 No Timing adjustments-no LED Non-Programable

Speed Passion EXT98802LPF GT-LPF 2.0 ESC (Carbon, Silver or Blue Version) 508 Must use zero timing and zero Advanced Profile signified by blinking LED

Speed Passion EXT98802LPF LPF 2.1 ESC (Carbon, Silver, Blue) V508 Must use zero timing and zero Advanced Profile signified by blinking LED

Speed Passion EXT98802Pro GT-Pro 2.0 ESC (Carbon, Silver or Blue Version) 508 Must use zero timing and zero Advanced Profile signified by blinking LED

Speed Passion EXT98802PRO PRO 2.1 ESC (Carbon,Silver,Clue) V508 Must use zero timing and zero Advanced Profile signified by blinking LED

I don't know enough about electric racing to comment any further, but I hope that your speedie is on that list.

Kindest regards,
Lars.
